I am supportive of the Golden Party hat release in celebration of the 20 year anniversary of RS and future significant milestones.
There has been a lot of speculation around predicted prices which i think will be very dependent on the amount of time required to earn them. I am guessing 75-150m whilst they are attainable which will be a range that will encourage some people to make alts for the sole purpose of farming additional Golden Party hats. I don't expect the prices of '2001' party hats to be too impacted but there will be some original Party hat / rare owners prepared to sell current rares to diversify their investments / collections.
I don't agree with the sentiment of releasing a new rare every year or two (ie: SIlver / Black Party hat) as it will become predictable and remove any prestige or sense of achievement of owning a discontinued item which is a common goal of many players.

If there's too much interest and demand in these gold phats, then Jagex will interpret the event as a success and will have huge financial incentives to repeat it again next year. Even if Jagex keeps its promise of not re-releasing gold phat, we're going to have this conversation again when they announce a silver phat or black phat 12 months from now. Demand for these new-decade phats are likely to get milked for all they are worth until people stop caring.
There will be enormous interest.
What concerns me is the lack of understanding with how rs3 works by the other poster. Players were guaranteed that rares were discontinued. Making them untradeable might be fine, or reintroducing some number that were banned, but giving them to everyone is completely unfair. The entire game has worked around players striving for rares. There is no other lasting achievement in rs.
I started in 2005. 50k/hr in f2p and 300k/hr in members was good. It was actually pretty easy to get a rare, but they were seen as this permanent thing that would rise. It took about a week with gwd1 release to get a phat, if not less, especially after max combat was common from portal slaying. But hats are old now. D claw release was another easy time. 85 slayer also easy. Or double nat runecrafting with runners.
I made super weapon poisons for hours to get one. I had people working for me. It was a big business.
If you check that dude's profile, it's an alt that whose short history is to post extremist views and attack those who disagree with him just a few days ago.
Yea, idk how some people have not realized it is an alt. Stop giving the person attention for their ridiculous opinions. Anyway, I am excited for this new partyhat but like people have said, I hope this does not become a frequent occurrence. Hopefully only every couple of years.

It seems like we get something every 3-5 years
fish mask (2012)
Tree hat (2012)
Crown of seasons: (2013)
Bsh: (2013)
Cloak of seasons: (2014)
Xmas scythe
2014)
Holly wreath: (2014)
Pet of seasons: ( I think this was 2015)
Armour of seasons boots gloves chest legs: (2016)

I doubt you have a bank like Sea King’s. What matters is what older players want, not just what you want. Thousands of hours have been spent getting rares. It’s an achievement you might not recognize but one nonetheless.
If goal is to collect rares, there is nothing to be destroyed after if you reach your own goals. Only thing it does is make it easier for you to collect even more rares to expand the collection.
I understand the wealth storage devalue aspect but thats part of investing to anything to store wealth as anything can happen from duel arena removal to bringing rares back to GE in some way crashing the prices.
If you have problem with storing wealth i suggest looking into items that sell for same price as they sell for general store like rune arrows, one max stack of them is worth 6 max shard stacks and you can have one in your quiver, one in inventory and one in bank so your mule can hold almost trillion gp at once.

I wonder if one of the goals of the Golden Phat is to redistribute wealth to more players. Since anyone that is a member can earn one during the promotional period, and a lot of players will probably liquidate shards etc to hoard Golden Phats, reintroducing that GP to circulation.
Yeah there seems to be a lot of players that will want to hoard at least a few of golden phats, this reminds me of fish mask release, people went kinda crazy (lmao yes i know), which kinda led to people losing a lot of money.
Might be a bit different with gphat though, because people might be less eager to sell and won't mind holding them in the bank.
But with a dwindling player base and possibly hundreds of thousands of gphats coming it would probably take a decade or two before people made good money off of their investments. Either that or inflation i guess, although they seem to want to control it, at least on a shorter term.

Based off the monthly hiscores around 300-320k accounts log in per month and alot of them are f2p I don't see it becoming fish mask rarity tbh. Fish masks were on sof for like 3+ months. It will probably take 2-3 hours to complete the event depending on premier.

It's gonna be more than 150m. 150m gets you a crown of seasons and we know this Gphat is way better looking XD
Theres probably going to be 30-50k in game and reminder there were 12.5k turkies on og release price went from 25m to 1.5m in like a month.
