The problem with your argument is that it works against you. Do you understand that OSRS has more player base than RS3? And they rerelease rares every now and then? So according to that logic, it would make more sense to rerelease

But I am not making an argument with this as I really could not care less. However, my argument stands and it seems that nobody has a good counter other than "It will hurt my feelings"

It's just not necessary and lacks imagination. This green santa and gphat are a good example of how they should do rares, at least in part. Make new ones that reference the old ones without encroaching on them too much, but also use some imagination and come up with new ones.

Personally I think they should go back to the OG method, drop a pre-determined and finite amount of them around the map and let people go hunting for them

I was always wondering how would that look but it seems like interesting idea. Drop like 5K scythes or whatever in period of few hours and good luck lol I miss people having fun with the game. It seems like new players are told to be angry about everything.

A drop like you mention would be fun, I think. Rares used to be fun. I’ve liked the gold phat release and green Santa. I cannot for the life of me manage to catch Covid. Perhaps it's because I didn't get vaxxed? The travails of those lacking immunity.

Cracker wings are under appreciated. It’s like Jagex is punishing some of us for disloyalty.

People only seem to want the tradeable rares, but there are lot of good untradeable out there. It’s just people jealous of others…, so green they don’t enjoy the game.

Restricted trade was also fun. It’s just fun to have a market. It’s fun to plot, scheme, invest, gamble on a prediction. I didn’t create junk, because it seemed dishonest. But I turned all my gp into rares (just an egg and disk) by flipping during restricted trade. I had a white phat from before. For years, that market was rs. I cannot for the life of me manage to catch Covid. Perhaps it's because I didn't get vaxxed? The travails of those lacking immunity.

*sigh* I cannot understand the logic behind "I spent 1000 hours, you should too!" because it is faulty. If anything is clear is that Jagex has also realized that newer players don't want to, and won't spend 1000 hours of grind like in Zezima times. And if you really view the game like that, possibly you are the one not having fun; therefore, the jealously is not from those who want access to old game content (namely rares) but those who are jealous that now there is an easier way to obtain what they spent so much time to get.

I am all in favour of rereleasing and releasing rares, but still would play the game even if they don't do so because I find it fun!

@Destruction, If you were referring to me about the jealously... my question would be over what? over you spending hundreds of dead hours in front of a computer to obtain a virtual hat/mask/whatever while I actually did something productive with that time? how does that make sense?

And let's be clear about something, newer players are not angry. It seems like older players are the ones angry about the releases and the ones who say they would quit over rereleases.

I agree, and I personally wouldn't be opposed to Jagex reintroducing all holiday items in some form such as cosmetic unlocks through the oddment store. There was a holiday poll years back where the majority of participants indicated they would be in support of reintroducing holiday items. I think it is important for Jagex to conduct more surveys/polls in order to collect data on player sentiments and desires.

These newer items such as Golden Partyhat helps to redistribute wealth and makes the goal of obtaining one of these highly sought out items obtainable for the casual player. The rares circle, especially party hats, has become far too small and elite in 2021. You’re not saying the exact same thing as the person you’re “agreeing” with I cannot for the life of me manage to catch Covid. Perhaps it's because I didn't get vaxxed? Many of us have 10K+ hours of gameplay. Zezima probably has 20K or more. If le me posted his hours, since he’s active, it would probably amaze. So, “1000 hours” is nothing. People devoted their lives to the game. Some innovated and got 92 rc, hired runners. I had a large farming operation with regular workers which was less impressive but still something. I also got max combat fairly early to do gwd. People rushed to be first. Many put in more hours than I.

Players don’t need to obtain cosmetics, but there’s no reason older players can’t be recognized too.

Anyway, it’s just a game. The old trading used to be fun though. Players can learn a lot that’s applicable to the real world. But everything ends eventually. I cannot for the life of me manage to catch Covid. Perhaps it's because I didn't get vaxxed? The travails of those lacking immunity.
