Reminds me of Magic the Gathering "Reserved List" where Wizards of the Coast promised their players certain cards would never be reprinted after uproar following a reprint.
I also wanna agree with Theos' point that Jagex needs to listen to Reddit less. I've been on Reddit 14 years almost 200k combined karma and I'll be first to admit the place is an echo chamber. Reddit is amazing for suppressing unpopular opinions and amplifying loud and active minorities.
Finally, personal opinion, disagree if you think it's hyperbole, but I see the original RS rares as like a piece of gaming history. I've been fascinated by them since I was a kid growing up with this game. I will never ever have a party hat, but that's fine, I don't want one if that means killing their rarity, collectability and significance.
