This definitely needs to be cleared up. Ever since jagex decided to re-release discontinued items with the fish mask, management should not have flippantly thrown those words around. It also should have never been released in greater quantities than existing santa hats and the items should have been cosmetically pleasing.

Rather than create new interesting items which hold long term economic value similar to the original discontinued items, jagex has instead managed to create junk items which are only traded by merchants due to the inherent risk in investing large quantities of ones wealth in them.

I think it is fine to have new cool discontinued items funded via TH so new players have options in holding wealth in good looking cosmetics. Otherwise jagex will further alienate players who did not buy into rares in the first place.
Mass contributor to deaths coffers.

Jagex have told what item is rare (not being released again), but the problem is that people wants to believe what they have invested in, are more valuable, and therefore also should be rare. Its a self made cycle of frauding themselves, or others.

This so called making doubt about whats rare or not, also goes the other way. There are several individuals here on the forums that for example slanders constantly the fish mask (a real rare by the way), to destroy others investment position on these masks, then instead will invest in what the liars a in fact invested in. Fish mask has a very low price, even if there are a lot of them around.

I want to believe you but ser your statements sound a bit contradictory.

"people wants to believe what they have invested in, are more valuable, and therefore also should be rare."

"the fish mask (a real rare by the way)"

"Fish mask has a very low price, even if there are a lot of them around."

Really, they havent even told us that.

Something being "rare" doesnt automatically make it discontinued, and the only item they themselves have officially said from a jmod on any rs site, have ever used the word discontinued specifically for, is the Golden partyhat.

Wouldnt trust the wiki on this particular matter on the status of discontinued rares without specific word from someone official

They like keeping it a grey area it helps with selling keys, Gullible merchers also hoard when it's not clearly defined as we have seen with the Sycthe and GSH both are massively hoarded. which removes the excess from circulation and holds up the price for them to release again.

I agree 100%, I've been reading a lot lately about people speculating that BSH is not officially discontinued because Jagex never gave a definite answer, and now I am terrified to hold onto it seeing as I bought it for like 20b. I don't care if they re-release items, but they need to state it up front. At this point if they re-released an item perceived as disco for the longest time like xmas scythes or BSH, they will screw a lot of people over unfairly.

They already stated the Bsh was "One off" So i wouldnt worry about it.

But surely Jagex must know which items are discontinued and which ones arent? Why cant they just create an official list? how hard can it be?

Don't trust any pc's listed, any advice or talks between posts on ID forums anymore , the Manips are let loose, especially the main one with 15+ accounts posting acting as different people.. do your own research
