Investing has it's risks, we all know that. However the way Jagex acts by calling an item rare when it clearly isn't a rare item longer is straight up false advertisement.

UK Law
Advertising to consumers
The Consumer Protection from Unfair Trading Regulations mean you cannot mislead or harass consumers by, for example:

including false or deceptive messages
leaving out important information
using aggressive sales techniques

Seems like jagex broke each one of these lmao.

EU legislation is even more strict. Each EU Member State has an institution that penalises such deceptive marketing techniques and practices. But I'm not here to threaten legal action. I don't want to hurt my Carlyle shares. :P

You need damages to file a lawsuit, I am sure there's someone who spent thousands on items Jagex said were rare and ended up losing lol. Jagex/Carlyle lawyers will likely argue that you can't define rare it can mean a lot of things. They also probably have something written in the TOS to defend from such lawsuits but many times it doesn't work. So, if anyone's looking to file a lawsuit you need a decent lawyer who has had experience in suing gaming companies before, they understand how these complex things work. If jagex was in the US they would have been sued many times by now we are a litigious society lmao. British are not too keen on suing probably due to the loser pay system.

Agreed. All we need to know is if the item is "Discontinued" or "Not Discontinued". JMods using the words "May" or "Rare" is where the uncertainty occurs and the players are left in limbo. I saw that they have having issues with this on the RS Wiki right now and the Wikians are having issues controlling it because people are uncertain of which items are "discontinued".

Jagex, should actually publish this info in a blog so the player base knows and the Wiki can get straightened out.

Best,

Very much agreed, with share, and very much with Theos

Even finding out eventually the status of something, is better than the constant guess work the community has to do as to their motives.

New rares were supposed to fill the hole that OGs used to hold. But making them all so common? Or leaving their discontinued status up the guessing feels wrong. Especially when every new "rare" these days is now RNG based, and could be considered behind a pay wall.

The final straw should have been when the halloween event was recycled from last year. Not even a new event, just the same one we did last year with old rewards. And the only new reward to be gained, a "rare" was on treasure hunter. Whos disc status is also ambiguous

Was looking at some reviews from employees to get some insight into jagex quoted some things. And no, I didn't just cherry pick the bad ones the recent ones are pretty negative over the last few months you can go look them up yourself.

"Brain/talent drain over last 12 months since we got sold - Senior leaders all moved on - It’s all about the pennies now and the pounds get neglected (bigger picture)"

"They are sitting with lots of technical problems and politics around it"

"Awful company run by awful people who's sole mission is to self-serve at the expense of others"

"Leadership of this studio is extremely stuck in their own politics. There is no clear vision from the CEO who seems like a nice guy but is really mercenary when you look closer."

" The game teams are hammered for more revenue with less people on titles they can’t really change"

" When I started, they were pushing this so hard down everyone's throat - "Champions of Diversity and Inclusion". Turns out this was also all for show, nearly all senior members in their diversity group has left due to the toxicity in the studio. So that's that. Utterly toxic teams and even more toxic community, racial slurs and misogyny is common. Change."

"Very clear the goal has become to make money at any cost at the expense of the
developers"

Most reviews repeat the word "Toxic" I feel like jagex itself has a lot of infighting and bad politics going on, being sold so many times probably contributed to it. So, it's unlikely we see any positive changes on Item transparency or other things I hope I am wrong :P .
