Totally support, to me it would give a new lease of life to the game.

imagine the vast space but more importantly the unexpected u would encounter, not being able to see where you are going and random NPC dropped in along the way, dragons, high level beasts that would test you, make you walk around them may be, fog of war, ***

To know that you are walking through an area that you have heard a Corp beast like thing roams and you may bump into him/her, kitting urself out, etc. or "Dragon valley" that you simply cant run through, u have to fight ur way through.

as i have said before, the game need more realism

this thread needs a support post, and more weight behind it somehow

i really like that. also this could be their chance to open up everything a bit more like actually giving Lv. 120 skill max and throwing the resources and such in the Wilderness to make people need to go there. and then again make hunting people in the wildy a reliable source of income. ^_^

It’s been a while since I last posted, so bump!

The benefits of world expansion are not just about making more space, making higher mountains, making wider rivers, or turning woods into forests. It’s also about giving Runescape space to breath and develop, to future proof it for the foreseeable future at least. It could also have the effect of promoting and driving content development. Several examples of this have already been described: the increased distances would promote interest in alternative forms of travel such as mounts; the empty spaces between towns could be filled with random encounters and resources to promote a sense of exploration.

We have agreed that the central areas of the map, which are land locked, are overcrowded and have no room to expand. Coastal areas and islands do not have this problem as they can be expanded out to sea if necessary. The problem of this is that the oceans themselves are being eroded. Entrana is so close to Taverley that I can practically step from one to the other without getting my feet wet. (And this is an island you are required to take a ship to get to!) For islands then the problem is one of separation. Expanding the land mass would expand the corresponding oceans, so it is simply a matter of floating these islands further out to sea.

But what to do with all that sea? There is another idea frequently suggested on the forums that could tie in with this - sailing. This is not the sailing you are expecting however, so before you get excited, let me explain…

There is an underused application of woodcutting, which provides a means of water travel - Canoes. These are a great way to use skills to provide a tangible benefit to training your skill level (at least they were before Lodestones were introduced.) Canoes though, are chronically underused as they can only be made on one river. If the world map was expanded, river travel would be a more viable option, promoting the development and expansion of the canoe network to other rivers. But why stop there? The oceans await!

As well as rivers, players could make ocean going canoes, to explore the vast expanses of water in the same way they can explore the forests, mountains and wastelands between towns. There could be the same mechanism of random encounters to give purpose, rewards, and a sense of explorations. Rare fishing spots, deserted islands, ship wreaks, sea monsters, pirates could all be encountered while canoeing. Those with diving equipment could also explore the sea floor at suitable spots to find sunken treasure chests among the dangers lurking in the briny depths.

There could also be a PvP element to this. Canoes could be augmented with your other skills to add offensive or defensive capabilities. Crafting on animal hides, smithing weapons, imbuing magical abilities for example. These war canoes could then be used to attack and loot the canoes of other players in acts of pure piracy! Beware the Navy though, or you could end up hanging from the yard arm!

So you see, the idea of expanding the world map has not only alleviated the central overcrowding, but has also promoted new methods of transportation, a spirit of exploration, and now piracy on the high seas!

Total support, taverly and burthrope is probably the best example of this. I don't even consider them serperate towns anymore, it's litterally just a line of noob skill tutors to burth. Expanding the world would give more room to add new content. Get rid of lodestones, love em and use them all the time but they seriously devalue the traveling aspect of Rs, and make magic tellys pretty much dead content. Expanding the space between cities could add traveling groups of muggers/bandits scaled to your cb level and drop resources depending on your skill levels. There could be bosses just roaming the forests. That would be awesome to stumble upon some giant dragon or beast, it would give excitement to the traveling aspect, you never know what might pop up. Even if none of those things get implemented rs does need to get scaled up. Our mountains are litterally hills. Make them very wide tall and winding. Make it an adventure to go from taverly to Catherby not two clicks on the minimap and you are there like it currently is.

I'd be more than happy to have no updates for 4 months if it meant buffing the world size by a large amount. Although I can only see Jagex considering this when they finally realize how pathetically small the world looks in HTML5... Assuming they still remember that beta. Hosting house party @
