What I would really like to see, and something I think is completely realistic, is not scaling up the whole world map, but simply adding open space in between towns/cities.

I feel like that would take much less development. For example, keep Falador, Barbarian Village, and Varrock how they are, but greatly increase the space in between them so walking from city to city seems realistic and meaningful. It would add such a great level of exploration back to the game. And would make teleports and unlocking lodestones meaningful. That first trek though would be epic!

More long term useful though, I also day dream about those areas being sprinkled with extra/new resources. Where the path is "safe", and straying from it enters wilderness, with nice resources but also a risk, and monsters. I think that would be great.

And I also would very much like mounts that were limited to only be used in this increased space between cities and town for increased speed and passive boosts based on the kind they are.

dreams of runescape 4... :D

the world size sucks for this game and id love to see a bigger map.

id also be willing to give up a lot of updates to see this actually happen because in my opinion, it would be well worth it but that's just me.

Scaling up the world, as various people have described and suggested in this thread would be a huge project - not only would it require a complete redrawing and designing of the whole world but it would have enormous knock on effects to the balance and economics of the world . As such it is highly unlikely to be something we would work on in the foreseeable future.

I don't see how increasing the distance between 2 points would magicly make range stronger vs melee, or let the price of things go up or down.

Dissagree about that statement.

Support... RuneScape needs this... And add random events in the forests between cities... rune rocks that can be mined by the first person to stumble across them, rare trees, special monsters with unique rewards, etc... to encourage people to explore the world rather than just teleport from place to place...

I really dislike the idea of scaling the world up. I really enjoy the closely spaced contend in this game. Regular MMO have a huge but empty world. RuneScape has a reasonable sized world packed with contend. Though there is one thing which should be reconsidered: Loadstones(and also other teleport- and quicktraveloptions get out of hand, f.e. branches of darkmeyer).

I totally support this.

07scape will soon have a new continent added to the game which, they say, is the size of 50% of the world map, somthing which many of us have been asking for since 05 so content is added to the world map, not portals to other dimensions.

While I respect Jagex might not wish to do this for their own sake, A majority of players would want, even if it ment moving a few pieces of content around, like to see the game map increase by 10% just to space out a few things

Personally I feel RS3 has an inferior development motivation to release content the players actually demand on these forums, with the exception of the elf city taking 10 years to reach development. I hope with more expansions of the game map and more content via that (not crappy content such as bacon and skillchompa's) this game could once again grow in player base and size
