Imagine a scaled up world. It would be amazing. Yes, there are lodestones and teleports, but they can be used when you really do want to get somewhere quickly. I love the idea of the "unintentional" skill of exploring. If you are in a rush, sure use a tele, if not however, you can roam between cities where random monsters attack you, a group of bandits are surrounding a dwarven cart full of ale, or an Ent giving you a clue to a nearby cave where there is treasure.

I think if you scale up the game, fill the gaps with these "new" places (which are infact graphically reworked and expanded areas that already exist), throw in a few surprises, then the problem of teleportation wouldn't exist. You are rewarded by these potential encounters by choosing to "explore", and if you don't feel like it, then just teleport there like you normally do!

It'd be terrific, like a whole new game all over again.

I really like this idea. We already have goblin and demon flash mobs, but they only happen at specific locations and are announced to everyone who choses to listen. Imagine large forests that you can explore where you can actually discover these events by accident. Flash mobs, bandits, wild creatures, ents, evil trees, treasure troves, temporary skilling spots (mining, fishing, woodcutting, hunter, divination, etc.)

Enlarge the map, fill the empty spaces between cities with forests, deserts, mountains and oceans, then sprinkle them with random encounters. Bring back the joy and excitement of discovering something new!
–= MEGA Construction Rework =–

Freeform Buildings, Surface World Plots, Community Involvement, Environments, Skills and much, much more...!

Yes, so much yes. I'm fairly sure that the exploring aspect (and just the feeling of the world being vast) was one of my favorite things about the game when I first starting playing. It felt like there was so much world, I didn't possibly know how I could explore it all. I remember I didn't even get over to Falador until a couple weeks after I began playing, haha. :D

Haha I know the feeling and I want to feel it all over again. I remember when I first started playing 8 years ago, I got totally lost and I had to check the map every 10 seconds or so and I was looking at my friend in great amazement when he told me he knew the whoooole map.

Now I'm kinda like meh. Do we get new areas to explore already?

I was the same Sam SoKnight, I remember when my friend told me there was another city other than lumby and varrock! They could make it seem bigger by using portals at the edge of every city that you could choose to "venture" through, in a similar way that the citadel port opens another part of the map. Would be soo fun

I think, eventually, there will be tools and functions which will create the ability to upscale things without causing many, or no glitches/bugs. It would be amazing to see everything to realistic size. HTML5 brings some nice new perspectives, especially depth of field, however it's still young, and could take a very long time before HTML5 is optimised and released.
