I was just thinking of World Event 2 with respect to this thread. In World Event 2, Bandos and Armadyl are going to build huge towers to attack each other from. On the ground there will be caravans of NPCs travelling across the land from node to node collecting Guthixian energies. And all this is to take place outside Falador.

I don't know about you, but I don't think there's a lot of empty space around Falador to build 'huge' towers. And these caravans aren't going to be travelling far to reach the resource nodes, giving limited opportunities to lay traps or organise ambushes. This battle of the Gods won't be as grand or have the epic feel that it deserves simply because there isn't the room. This could be so different if only the world map was larger.

The bandosian tower could be located near the Goblin village, it's the most likely candidate. The armadyl one could be near Port Sarim, however it's still pretty clustered. Considering that falador could act as a good buffer between the two camps, it would be tactically wise to set up on opposite sides of falador's outskirts.

Edit: I just saw Armadyl on top of his tower, seems like it's near Port Sarim.

100% Agree. Thanks for giving this idea some attention.

Some areas like the Tree Gnome Village area, and many, many others simply look ridiculous. And yes, HTML5 makes it easy to see how small and "cluttered" the RS world really is.

Obviously not a primary update though, but a confirmation of implementation in the future would be wonderful!

I would prefer this update over many updates they've been releasing lately.

The advantages this would bring, in terms of not only making the game more realistic, but also in terms of gameplay, are HUGE...

When they finally release HTML5, the claustrophobic environment will only get worse

Would be nice if they just added a poll on the homepage to see how interested (or not) would the playerbase be in this update.

they prob won't be working on another major graphical update for a while, since html 5 is so recently released. i hope the downloadable client runs the improved graphics better.

havent really played using html 5 due to extreme lag

Lets go to catcherby to fish for lobsters and a lot of other fishes in knee deep water. Lets take a ship ride to swim across a puddle after a storm. Don't accidently fall down from a pile of manure. Be carefull while running in zig zags evading thouse dungeons on the ground every 2 feet.

Yeah we need a bigger world (by a lot) i would trade in all this year updates for it . you will include wasd movement , better graphics , downloadable client? I will start a new account.

Now then just to put it out there: currently the world of ***lenor is far bigger than what we see in game. This is explained by an intermediary plane and using space time "magic" to create the effect we see.

Let me explain in easy terms:

Let us suppose that we are on Earth, and in another dimension exists ***lenor. Between the two of us though is an empty plane of existence known as RuneScape. Using magic certain parts and pieces of ***lenor are pulled and shown together on the empty plane, creating the map we see. Someone said that the slayer tower is bigger than Canifis, because we are only seeing parts of Canifis that are made to look like a whole.

Imagine if you will that we take the Earth, and let's take the cities of New York, London, Berlin, and Paris, and we move only the big attractions onto a smaller plane so that New York only includes the Empire State Building, Statue of Liberty, Broadway, and parts of Manhattan. London only includes the river, Notre Dame, Tower of London, Buckingham Palace, Big Ben, and a few houses. Paris has the Eiffel Tower, the Louve and a few restaurants. We all know there is far more to each city but for the purposes of our game we only pull in the required parts.

If we actually visited the full of ***lenor it would be splendid an awesome. Varrock and Falador would both be at least 3 to 4 times their current size (if not larger) and miles and miles apart.

I don't think whether we are seeing the whole of Gielinor, or just the 'edited highlights', is really the issue. The issue is that, whatever we are seeing, it is much too cramped. You cannot move more than a screen in any direction without falling over some ancient ruin, or dungeon, or minigame, or settlement, or some other piece of content. This in of itself, while unrealistic, isn't a big deal.

The problems arise every time Jagex tries to find room to add a new piece of content, especially when that content is available to F2P as it has to be located in the central area of the map. Look at how much had to be relocated to make room for the Battle of Lumbridge. How much more will have to be moved to make room for World Event 2? Eventually there won't be anywhere to move the existing content to, so features will have to be removed (much like the Lumbridge fishing pond.)

Resizing the world map, while giving a more realistic sense of scale, will give the developers much needed room to add additional content without having to sacrifice anything that already exists. Something they are going to be increasingly short of with every quest or World Event they add to the F2P map.
