We already have dragon pets.

I want dragon pets to have a combat use more than any of ur suggestions.

I'd pay 10m spirit shards to allow baby dragon to grow up.
Skillet? Skill no.

So much moot.

@Op: Hi,do you have a lot of talismans banked?

These ideas are pretty cool and I do like the idea of using the other talismans as secondary. Besides blood and death for combat there maybe also could be law and nature for skilling and Even body and mind for lower lvl xp grind familiars.

Blood and death would be the ultimate high end combat familiars.
Nature talisman could maybe be tied to a familiar that teleports you directly inside the nature altar,law could be similar but then for law altar. or a familiar with a limited lifespan that allows to get double the runes from crafting that you would normally get.

Anyway,there is lots of room for familiars to be added.

As you mentioned Steely will most likely not be after M&S rework.
Put some work put into the creature, a very nice tie-in with Invention?
Could change model depending how you augment?

Modes?:
Have it set to Tank (consume salvage to heal itself.)
OR Dps (consume salvage for 'grapeshot' like breath weapon.)
Unique in that it isn't traditional dragon breath but a wide-angle short RANGED attack.
DF shields, pots & immunities would not apply.
Self-desrtuct.. (would have to summon/build/level another.)

Scroll:
Rapid multi-shot 'barker toad' effect scaling up with levels?
(Of course you'd need cannonballs for this..)

The multicannon as terts? That would take up 4 inv slots per pouch. Not sure that's such a good idea.

Reading the modes and specs, I see why you said its going to be BiS. I was thinking of adding a new section for new extremely powerful combat familiars where their tertiaries are dropped only by specific bosses and need to consume a lower level pouch to make (this will take up 2 slots instead of 4 from your idea). Right now, I'll just add a link to your comment at the front page because I'm running out of space to add new ideas. I'll probably have to remake the thread and reserve more space to add the new section.

But the pets are permanent, whereas familiars are a consumable and act as an item and gold sink. Can probably figure out someway to get around this.

Only a few fire and water stocked up from pvm, which is not a lot. Might only consider stocking up when the update is confirmed.

For nat tally, we already have graahks, and they're 4m/h, a tele straight into the altar would probably cause the price of nats to crash quite hard. Not that I mind that happening, but I feel might not be good overall. As for multiple runes, I think it'd work better as a spec instead of passive.

Yes I agree, there are plenty more niches we can discover.

I wouldn't worry so much about inventory as much as utility, these new Familiars should not be insane Summoning exp/h imo.

As far as locking them behind PvM.. meh.
I'd still prefer mini/quest locks, it would allow for JaGEx TIME & FLEXIBILITY in release date as well as lore.
1. Combat won't work with Skilling Familiars.
2. Would avoid "..But..but.. they already have 120 summon!!"
3. Extra work & accomplishments.
4. Want the Summon? ..Go get it! (..or don't, we're not forcing you.)

Any rework on Summoning 1-99 sounds more like a Ninja fix tbh..
Next level kids.

I'm actually wondering what will happen if they take Runecrafting to 120..
Tallies being terts and such..

I believe that a Skilling Familiar that could produce .25/.33/.5 of the Summoner could be considered OP.. then again we are talking about 120¿?
