The best idea I have seen in this forum is music.
Two others I liked, but think should fall under existing skills are an advanced form of gem cutting (crafting, obviously), and swimming, which could be part of agility.

Based on the release schedule of skills in the past, the next new skill will be a couple of years from now. We know later this year, we will be not just looking at the past and present but into the future. So the next skill can be a futuristic one, something along the line of Robotics and Aviation/Space Exploration.

That would be cool, but of all the ideas in this forum, I don't think those are the most likely, nor the most fitting.

Do you know Jagex can have over 9000 more better ideas than in this forum? For instance from all their work on sci-fi games in Transformers Universe Online and Stellar Dawn they have been working on?

I never said they couldn't, but if we don't limit ourselves in the scope of what we are talking about (in other words, referring only to what has already been said in this forum), then any and all ideas are stupid, because there is always something better that
could
be done.
I really don't see the point of your post. We're talking about Runescape, not their sci-fi games. Runescape is not, at this point, sci-fi, and I don't expect it ever will be.

Who said we have to limit our scope to the words of just the few in this forum? I don't see that's rule of this forum at all. And what if all the handful of ideas from the couple of users in this forum are all "stupid"?
We are discussing all possibilities, especially based on known Jagex facts like the TFO and Stellar Dawn sci-fi projects they have spent time worked on and created sizeable content that logically can be used in their games with futuristic content. If you have a reason why RS3 can't use already developed futuristic content in their next new skill, please tell us so or else all I can say is thank you for your comment without reason.
We definitely need new and refreshing content in an MMORPG like RS3 to compete with modern AAA games as MMORPG is a dying genre, but to whether that content has to be a skill or called a skill is not really that big an issue.
Let me recall when Jagex released Dungeoneering players debated for a long time if it should be called a skill, but 10 years later we found outself an entertaining, highly rewarding, and very useful piece of content in Dungeoneering. What I want to say is who care if Dungeoneering is a skill or we need such a skill. As long as the animal can catch mice, it is a good "cat" even some people may think it barks like a dog.
No thought or idea for a video games stupid, but sticking with the runescape medieval theme, yeah splace xploration would be well over the top for it.
Skill and kill...that's all I do.

Perhaps you don't realize Runescape's "medieval" theme pertains to medieval Gielinor, not planet earth. Where on earth in the medieval time have we found Shooting Stars and Space Sprites?
