The 99 grind is boring enough with tons of free xp thrown at us nowadays

Pretty much. Even with alternate xp options available 90 divination makes me want to hurt things. Small, cute, furry things.

It dulls the pain...

Before they add any more levels, they need to make skilling not the most tedious, boring, repetitive "game" activity on the planet. When WoW has that level of tediousness in an achievement it rewards "The Insane" title.
Headcanon Haven, where everything is made up and the points don't matter.

It has the potential to open up the end game, not just for the fact that there'd be more training to do, but additional content that would otherwise eventually crowd the current high levels.

There would have to be a level scaling system to prevent trivializing old content, but at the current rate that's already going to happen if they keep introducing better max gear.

Also 99-120 represents a significant investment of time, that most people can't achieve. I like how maxing has become easier because it has shifted the focus from grinding to experiencing new content which gives the developers incentive to work on more challenging/engaging content.

If it were to happen it would be done best accompanied by a slew of new content. Maybe an entire continent full of new bosses and higher level monsters that would call for the higher skills and while on the mainland they would scale back to 99.

Edit: I only suggest the 120 max for the purpose of making room to introduce new content, not to do extend the grind exponentially. For that reason, I would say xp required to level after 99 should plateau, meaning 99-100 only requires ~100-300k additional xp than was required for 98-99.

To be honest, if they did this I would probably quit.

I am 6 dung levels off of max and I've been playing... well for a long time. I don't play a lot, just an hour a day or so.

I also have huge chunks of comp work that isn't done. In short, I've got a lot to do. I've been focusing on the levels and quests before tackling other comp requirements.

If all of a sudden the goal posts got moved on me, that would be enough to give up hope.

Maybe instead of increasing the max level, you could also add a feature to the game that decrease your experience in every skill depending on your current xp. And you will have to keep training that skill in order to maintain your level, which would make more sense to me.

In real life if you learn something you don't stop doing it.. you keep and keep learning till you die...

If you learn to bike as a child, you keep biking till you die, maybe not everyday but atleast now and than.
Because if you learn to bike as a child, and than stop biking forever because you don't see any use for it (like maxed people don't see any use for training a skill like agility if they have already maxed XP) the next time you try to bike it would be like starting all over again because you mostly forgot, you need to get " a hang of it " again.

I have a car and even I use the bike to go get some groceries.

This game can only make sense if players have to keep "practicing" a skill in order to maintain their level and ranking.

Personally i think this is the way to go.

People going on vacation and can't play can be given an option in their account management page to set their account on in-active, they will be hidden from all rankings but don't lose their XP. And this requires to be a period of atleast 7 days. anything less is not counted as a long term absence.

this is the way to go ^

Something no one has mentioned is increased XP rates.

If they did this, i'm pretty sure most people would oppose it if XP rates weren't increased.

The small elitist idiots would be against it. "OMG gaem 2 ez now!" When the reality is no one cares what you think because no one plays this game but you for 200m XP just to look pretty on a leaderboard.

When I say "you" I mean people who are going for 200m's/maxed etc - that niche group needs to just shut up already.

We could have seen great content stem from the prestige system if it weren't for the infinitesimally small group of no-lifes, but no lol Jagex caters to those who don't actually know what's best for the game.

This game will inevitably have to increase the cap. Might as well do it now with increased XP rates so people with lower levels don't complain about it. OR, implement the prestige system. Personally I prefer the prestige system, that way there's no ceiling to leveling.

I support 120 skills cause I feel I want this game to b here forever. I have nvr wanted to reach the end. Runescape should nvr have an end. That's what makes it so awesome to me. Always striving to become better is the best part of this game I think.
