I think 120 is quite a big ask for majority of the players.
I think a lot more players than just maxed players would benefit from raising the skill lvl from 99. If you look at the high scores tables, there are a lot players not maxed with a few or more favorite skills well above 13 mil xp.
No, they released the capes for this reason. Jagex stated they would not raise the level caps and while I cannot say if they will remain true to that statement, I will say it is pointless to raise the cap when THERE IS NO CONTENT TO FILL THE LEVELS. DG needed it because 60 floors could not fit in 99 levels. Please don't say we'll have lvl 110 "enhanced" runite or lvl 118 "super super catalytic staff" BS to fill 20 lvls.

I for one think we do not need to do this just so some can have imaginary efame by having the 99 on the highscores be replaced by 120, what diff would it make? Shouldn't you be looking at the xp? Should we arbitrarily raise the cap so it fits with 200m xp? Hope you can see where I am going with this.

I understand and respect your point of view that you would like to keep all skills 99 and offer cosmetic rewards. However, their are many of us that would enjoy very much trying to achieve lvl 120 in our favorite skills. Further more as the game progresses on we would very much like new content for those skills.
For an example off the top of my head at level 110 mining we would be able to mine dragon ore. At level 110 smithing we would be able to smith dragon armor.
It is a rather over simplified example I admit, but I hope u get the idea.
A great idea that was suggested on this thread is to make all items associated with skilling above 99 would be making only non-tradeable items.

As a player who is nowhere near maxed the idea of all skills being capped at 120 seems overwhelming. The game would probably have some backlash if the end-game content was only achievable to those who've been playing for many years.
I understand that the xp rates have increased a lot since the game first came out, but that doesn't necessarily mean the cap has to be raised. Because from my perspective the increased xp rates help players spend less time on grinding levels for requirements and more time participating in the content that he/she enjoys. I am also aware that certain players actually enjoy the grindy aspect of the game so for those types of players they can still look forward to obtaining the master capes.
The only way for the 120 cap to work out in my opinion is if the xp rates were reasonably increased to accommodate for the large xp difference between 99-120; especially for skills like Agility and Divination. However, I can imagine some players having resentment towards this because it "devalues" their 120 capes.
Also Ironman accounts are gonna be in for a tough ride if this ever happens.

Of course there are people that just have been into RS for quite a while now and I see that people might want more of this kind of content being released in the game.
But lets not forget about our new incoming players that would like to max too. If they would want to catch up they need to play 15 hours a day straight....
While I would enjoy the skill cap being raised to 120 for everything (just think of the lore and cool content that could be released with such milestones...) The most logical solution to this situation would be to
increase the experience gained from EVERYTHING by a factor of 1538% along with increasing the experience needed in the skill for each respective level by the same 1538%.
This means that the community will feel no increase in the time it takes to get a 99 and it moves the experience for 99 up to 200,000,000 xp.
A small example of change: XP to level 2 from 1 is 83, with the 1538%, the level requires 1,276.5 xp. killing a cow before gives 26.5 xp (with 8.7 constitution xp) and after said change, the experience given will be 407.6 (with 133.9 constitution xp).

why not just have a reset option, you can reset skills but you keep all the unlocks and keeps track of how many times you reset the skill reset option after 120 or keep going and the highscores still calc exp and all that so the game latterly never ends also a repeat quest option this would slow down all the updating and stuff to keep people from getting board say each skill can reset 120 times I highly doubt people could get that kind of exp this is a possible salutation for this never ending problem
