Gods don't have souls.

It has been said canonically in game and by the devs lots of times over the last 10 years that gods can't be revived.

They are dead.

You're not getting Guthix, V, Bandos, or even Tuska back.

Alright, look at it this way then, they go to another realm / after-life. We visit them there. Bob says:

The question is what is "death"?

Somebody, gods included, may go to "hell, but does it mean they are "dead"? Hint... hint... Zaros has gone to Erebus, which is well known as the Afterlife of Mahjarrat. Even Zaros himself knew it and he told Azzanadra about it.

The other known fact is gods absolutely have memories. Even if they are "dead", we may still be able to bring back their wandering memories even their bodies are totally dead like Zaros.

When gods "die" they just vanish and there physically appearance turn into stone.
They cannot return to life because there simple is noting left.

Memories can be found with help of divination, but its just like a book or movie.
Its not like those memories can interact with the surrounding's.

Its also a great lesson maybe sometimes its best to take the experience form the past "life lessons" and move on.
You cannot change the past and think about it would really want to change it?
In the end it did shape you to the person you are right now, the good and also the bad/ horrible things.

We have yet to even see the tip of the iceberg regarding "death" and "afterlife". No difference with death ad afterlife of gods.

Tumeken was killed in the 2nd Age Zarosian Desert War but evidently he still exists in the form of Kharid-ib. Nobody outside Jagex actually has any concrete idea about "death" and "afterlife" of any NPC in the game, gods included.

Before the opening of Priffdinas, we were under the impression Seren has died and we wouldn't see her anymore

Before Azzanadra's Quest, everybody thought Mahjarrat has no afterlife, but now we know they spend their afterlife in Erebus.

Before A Tail of Two Cities, we didn't know afterlife in the form of reincarnation.

Before a series of Death quests, we didn't know Itchlarin's Underworld and Death's Afterlife aren't the same thing.

There are simply too many definitions of "death" and undiscovered number of afterlifes. And more importantly, there is no permadeath for any NPC as long as The Needle exists and we can repair it. ;)

Of course, all these events and theories about death, afterlife, return from death etc etc are extremely interesting, and so can Necromancy be. :)
