Hello again.

Earlier in the year we spoke about fixing the Completionist Cape. Mod Jack wrote a big-ol’ dev blog about it which you can find here .

Since then we've been listening to your feedback on various social channels, including the in-game poll, and we’ve come up with a design proposal.

Just to reiterate - this is currently only a proposal. It doesn't mean this is the final state of the update. We understand that changing anything about the Completionist Cape is going to be controversial, but we do need to make improvements for the long-term health of the game.

Similar to the Mining and Smithing design doc, this will be a "live design". You can always read our latest design proposal by going to the living design here .

We welcome your feedback. Please do tell us about anything you’re happy or unhappy about.

I will shortly give feedback on the subjects in the order they are presented:

The formulation of the reason for the rework indeed seems to convey the main issues with the cape(s) currently.
In a way point 4 addresses the lack of variety in end tier goals, though at the same time it is clear that the completionist cape is intended to stay the one that is the most prestigious (instead of creating diversity in end goals, all other capes are still grouped within the comp cape). Though since the suggested comp cape will purely be cosmetic I think it is good enough.

The changes in the distribution in achievements and their accompanying meta achievements seems like a great idea. Two things bother me here though: why will the Lore category be the only one with a cape? I mean people who prize themselves in their combat skill want a cape to reflect this, as do people who do minigames. Not giving them a cape sounds lazy.
On the other hand, replacing the quest and MQC seems like wasted development time, since they already perfectly embody T1 Lore and T3 Lore (or should). Why make a new cape design for something which already perfectly fits the description of the meta-achievements? Just create an intermediate cape and add some new requirements to the MQC and it should be fine. Use that energy on designing a minigame and combat cape instead.

The way how non-stat bonuses are dealt with looks perfect. The stat-bonuses deserve to be slightly pvm oriented: after all they will be pvming/bossing with the cape, skillers won’t and as such have no need for these boosts. Perhaps lower the passives a bit and create new bossing capes with actual stats that can be earned?

The new completionist cape, as well as the legacy one look good to me: it seems to me to be the best solution to please most people. I will not delve too deep into the controversial requirements: I think it is more important to have good definitions for the achievement categories and tiers first.

My god, you guys know how to over complicate huh?

The biggest reason people have problems with Castle wars is, just like all your other mini-games its DEAD, how about reworking mini-games so they are relevant?

    This is basic stuff...

That's got to be the silliest thing I've heard... Do not rework that, the Completionist Cape is unique,if you give everyone the abilities the comp Cape has what's the point of the comp Cape? There isn't? So why ruin such a unique item?

personally i see your proposal as shredding all mine and many others hard hours of work. i worked so hard for comp and am so close to trim, so demotivating to know that my achievements are going to become outdated, like whats the point of even continuing to go for trimmed comp now because by the time i get it its going to become "legacy" which to me just makes it seem not relevant anymore, if this update comes out and i'm like t1 in all the things to get the new comp i will feel like all my progress has just been liquidated, thus probably wont want to play anymore. i urge you to rethink this. it essentially this pushes aside all our hard work.. we don't want legacy comps. you should just add new details or something to existing comp so if you go above and beyond the main achievement, like maybe some pattern details on the back of the cape which build up more and more as you complete more, eventually leaving you with a fully detailed comp cape if you finish all that is required. as for the combat bonuses. just add a combat related cape people can earn from doing certain bossing activities that can be worn in comps place.. please dont make comp/trim legacy. no one will want them anymore, meaning they will become worthless.

You know that the Tier 3 comp cape might just be that 'above and beyond'? :)

Stop with all these crap ideas ffs, I didnt see one good idea in that whole document. Why cant you just leave stuff alone its been fine for 15 years its still fine. Everything you try to rework has come out like shit, I like this game it used to be great now youre flushing it down the toilet with each new thing you try to rework. JUST STOP. Queen of W52
