Hopefully we won't have to wait that long. I'm hoping for 2019 myself. Rite of Passage - Explore a new world, learn about the aviansie and ancient secrets!

I know you're kinda joking, but you might actually be right. Especially if it doesn't do well on this year's survey, which it may very well not, given how tired everyone is of seeing it on the survey.

It's not at all likely it will do well on any survey. When it is polled it is always at a disadvantage - recognizability is the key this year and last, as all of the other survey options can be understood at some superficial level by a player with sufficient in-game knowledge, but you cannot know or learn of Rite of Passage within the game itself.

If Jagex will only consider this project if it surveys well, they will need to consider how it's being pitched - not sneering when mentioning it on stream would be great - or we will be waiting a lot longer than 2020.

But in regards to the concern raised earlier about Rite of Passage not having name recognition in surveys, maybe the idea should just be renamed "Armadyl Quest" or "Aviansie Quest."

Evil Dave was already halfway completed. It would be stupid to just scrap it.

RoP will be a big quest, so I don't think it's really fair to compare the two.

So I just wanted to step in here to point out that comparing these two titles is not a good metric and not a good source of argument.

Evil Dave quest was begun by Timbo in his TAPP time and is being picked up by another team to finish off and to get into the game. It requires comparatively little graphics and development time.

Rite of Passage, by contrast, requires:
* An ENTIRE NEW planet.
* A new set of NPCs with new animations in order to make Abbinah believable.
* A not insignificant amount of writing in order to meet the lore requirements.
* New skilling methods (if we go with what is currently expected as rewards, THIS IS NOT A PROMISE).

The two really are not directly comparable and it's not right to think that one excludes the other.

As it stands Rite of Passage isn't "dead", but it is still shelved. What this means is that everything contained within the quest design is still considered canon as far as internal lore creation goes and it means that we are constantly considering ways that the quest can be built and produced in a reasonable schedule. It does not mean that it's forgotten.

It does mean that it's not coming out this year though.

I do understand the frustration, trust me I share it, but I think it's unreasonable to work yourselves up into not letting yourself enjoy what is (from what I've seen so far) something that's due to be a good bit of fun in quest form.
