Version 2. Wow.

I doubted I would see the day the RoP thread hit 2000 posts. That we've all been pushing for this quest for so long and that the community has supported us in such a way. That we've had so many great discussions and so many different theories. That've even capped out a whole forum thread...It is amazing and a big accomplishment.

Now, let us hope that by the time RoP v.3. becomes a thing that the quest is live in game ;3 !

I couldn't delete the mass spam posts that ruined the end of the last thread, but I was able to hide them and, using a bit of J mod sorcery, have had the last post on the page. ;)

Hopefully you should find it interesting enough.

I'll quote the lore itself here:

Disclaimer: This lore is subject to change as it has not yet made it into the game. We reserve the right to alter the lore below based on the needs of the story/game.

An aviansie spirit priest is known as an Bo'udgan, or shaman. Each of them is trained to listen to one of the five types of spirit and they are trained to interpret the needs of those spirits as well as to petition them for aid should the people require it. The Bo'udgan do not live separately from aviansie society, but rather they live among them. They perform normal jobs as well as perform their spiritual service, it is an additional responsibility, rather than a complete vocation. E.g a bo'udgan that works as a hunter, will hunt as much as a normal hunter, but will listen/talk to the spirits as they do so. Spirits are respected, not worshipped.

The five spirit types correspond to an aspect of life/balance within the world and within aviansie society.

Water spirits are the spirits of beginnings. They are the spirits of creating and sustaining life. They encompass aspects of fertility deities as well as traditional water roles.

Earth spirits are the spirits of sustained growth and survival. They are the stoic tree spirits standing against the storm and they are the spirits that keep buildings standing. They offer gifts of good health and stability.

Light spirits are the spirits of knowledge. They reveal the secrets of the universe to those with the patience to look. They promote education and the betterment of self for the benefit of others.

Fire spirits are the spirits of passion and emotion. They are the song in the throat of a musician and the rage on the field of battle. Fire burns, but it also illuminates. Spirits of light and fire are often linked.

Storm spirits are the driving force behind the world. They are the inspiring words from great leaders. They are the winds beneath the wings of an aviansie carrying them to new places.

It is the responsibility of the bo'udgan to maintain dialogue with the spirits. To tend their shrines and protect their sacred places. In exchange the bo'urdgan are believed to possess spirit like powers.

Awww, I was about to post an image of the new lore reveal...

Anyways, I'm floored that we actually managed to hit the post limit. I've never actually witnessed a thread do that, other than the price status threads for the various price-checking Friends Chats I used. I don't think anyone is surprised that a thread like that would hit 2k - by its very nature, people will be constantly posting, as prices on items constantly shift around. I've certainly never seen a 2001st post, though I'm sure it's happened somewhere else before, at some point in time.

The new lore reveal is very interesting. This also means that Armadyl would have been raised by a Bo'udgan - thus perhaps inspiring him to go above and beyond in his responsibilities to his tribe, and thus, his people.

One also has to wonder if there is something a bit more to these "spirits." Perhaps they are faint aspects of the Anima Mundi of Abbinah? Abbinah is shattered, thus, it stands to reason that its anima would also be shattered. Perhaps, if the legends of Bo'udgan having powers like these "spirits" are true, this is how they derived their powers? And perhaps, this secret can be re-discovered?

I also am curious about how Bo'udgan were selected. Did they volunteer? Maybe there was a test to see which Aviansies had a natural talent for magic - to primitive Aviansie society, being able to use magic would definitely qualify as having "powers of the spirits." (As we know from the GWD, Aviansies can use magic, though living Aviansie mages are rare - Geerin and Kree'Arra may well be exceptional. Whether they use runes to use magic is a different question.)

Or it could just all be ancient legends, and the alleged special powers of the Bo'udgan are just ancient legends of Aviansie that had natural magic abilities...

The thread reaching 2000 posts is an amazing achievement!! Cheers to everyone on making it happen!! :D

I think the lore reveal was even more amazing! If this is lore that is only "tangentially pertinent" to the quest, I can't imagine the lore that will actually be contained in the quest and in Abbinah itself!! This alone should be enough reason for one to want this quest, regardless of faction or anything else :P

I am going to use the next post to reply to Lord Drakan's post in the old thread.

Furthermore, I really don't like the idea of a particular group of quest-interested players calling themselves 'Zarosians' pushing for the quest just because it would feature Zaros. Frankly, that's an offence to questers. While such people undoubtedly exist, a true quester would push for whichever quest series, or type or difficulty of quest hasn't been released in a while, not for whichever quest would feature some deity to whom they have artificially chosen to align themselves to.

While I agree with the part about not wanting a quest simply because it features a specific faction, I find your statement about "true questers" to be extremely rude. A "true quester" would want to see good quests, no matter their series or difficulty. And just because you might want to see a certain series/difficulty/type of quest to be released next doesn't mean every quester would. To call someone "not a true quester" because they don't want the same quest as you is very disrespectful.

I don't consider myself a quester, however; I consider myself a lorehound. I would rather have an update with lots of meaningful lore that is not a quest than a quest with no lore. And this quest would have lots of lore, as evidenced by Mod Raven's posts!! That's why I'm excited for this quest. And yes, I realize we're in dire need of new lore about the Gnomes. And Pirates. and even Elemental Workshop. There's room for all of that, if Jagex allows :P

I don't know those sports people, sorry. Nor what the AFC is. Super Bowl is either baseball or American football. I think

I'm surprised that analogy was used. Those were both American football people. The AFC is a division in American football (basically half the league). You have to be American to know who John Elway is. You have to be into American football (or from Pittsburgh) to know who Bill Cowher is. That's why I thought it was a very obscure analogy. But whatever :P
