Still be interesting to see what they morph the idea into.
What they morph the idea into? Oh... when it is morphing time... we turn into the Mighty Morphing Power Rangers perhaps?
Well, they mentioned Stormguard and quite logically so expanding the Stormguard CItadel and Gielinor into a 3D map will be a great idea. Armardyl has recently visited his homeland prior to coming back to defend Gielinor so the most plausible theory will be Aviansies coming for the defense of Gielinor with the reconstruction of the Stormguard Citadel as their stronghold and then expanding Gielinor's 3D map by boldly go vertically off the ground level where no Gielinoreans have gone before.
So on reddit, this player posted notes from an idea of an Armadylean focus quest in the vein of ‘Whilst Guthix Sleeps’ which can be seen
here
.
Of course something like this never happened and we don’t get quests the scale of While Guthix Sleeps - or many quests at all - nowadays but I thought it was interesting to see and how various players are aware of the gaps of knowledge the game has when it comes to Armadyl compared to the other gods.

FYI - not sure why your link is busted, but it’s actually taking me back to this thread. I see you used the right URL though. And thanks for sharing, I’ll check it out!
Edit: the URL is https://www.reddit.com/r/runescape/comments/p4zval/in_2010_i_wrote_a_quest_concept_called_as_armadyl/ – no idea why he code for linking is not working. Forums pls

It only makes sense when Armadyl doesn't have many things to do ever since he killed his archrival Bandos. He may have other desires like winning the Stone of Jas too but unfortunately the World Guardian defeated him. The Staff in his name is also in the hands of the World Guardian now.
Obviously, Armadyl is not much a factor in the balance of Gielinor anymore. He still serves his purpose as an obedient little boy under the commands of the World Guardian and Seren to defend Senntisten though.
Armadyl is left in a new position now caring also for Prifddinas and the elves honouring an alliance with Seren, following up on dialogue in Endgame (not sure how much more it was brought up since). There's definitely potential for them to follow up more on this story thread and bring in Armadyleans and Aviansie too if they so wish.

As I understand from the newest quest Extinction

We know Jagex has the idea of expanding the stories of Stormguard Citadel, and that's when their plan of the Avansie will pick up. Not sure if Armadyl will personally involve but if it the affair is a bigger scale one like saving Abbinah from the baby elder gods or preventing a new God War from the hands of the secret agents attempting to make god killing weapons then he will more than likely be there.
