yes, yes, 2020 has been a lost year in terms of development due to Covid.
That said, it's clear that questing has been de-emphasized by Jagex. Part of why for example, they decided to do a bit or lore into the Kerapac Yak Track. Also putting a lot into Archaeology.

It may be time to put this thread to rest.

If it happens, it happens. Perhaps in a reduced form, but no point dwelling on what is yet another piece of shelved content.

They already addressed the number of quests and said they want quality over quantity, so likely there won't be a lot of quests going forward but it has nothing to do with COVID.

However, they are putting a lot of lore into every bit of game content outside quests. Archaeology is great. Although we don't have a quest in Abinnah or Iaia, we have already entertained with a lot of Avainsie and Dragon Rider lore and such from related lore based content.

Stormguard has a lot of potential for the coming "seasons" after the Elder Gods Saga, since we know Agent Howl has found the Fifth Element in mid air Stormguard which can be used to make weapons to kill Gods.

With recent developments concerning the other elder artefacts, it seems almost confirmed that Armadyl ascended using The Hammer and that would have played a role in Rite of Passage.

The Hammer and The Template are the only two elder artefacts we haven’t encountered yet and we know Armadyl ascending using one rather than killing a god. Given his reluctant to discuss the matter with us, it seems he is ashamed of the exact details of his ascension.

Whilst it certainly seems possible that The Template could have been used, it sounds more plausible that Armadyl came across The Hammer and used it causing his ascension but potentially harming Abbinah or the Aviansie in the process. It would fit with what we know about his actions as a young god, explain his shame and be a reasonable discovery that we would find on the “Rite of Passage”.

Of course we are unlikely to ever seen this confirmed in-game (especially in the near future but I think most of us acknowledge it is unlikely even to be seen) but it fits what we know.

Q: Does Rite of Passage actually have a chance of being made, or do we just let the dream die?

A: If there's a story around it we will likely share it in various ways such as with Stormguard. However if you are looking for a grandmaster quest, it probably won't happen or not any time soon. It feels to stand alone with the story we are currently telling.

That doesn’t necessarily mean there will be more content in Stormguard. It sounds more like they are basically taking what they can from RoP and salvaging other content out of it—something I’d been wanting them to do.

Also, for what it’s worth, there’s also a tiny follow up re: Endgame (specifically where Armadyl offers to help Seren heal the crystal shapeshifters on Tarddiad in exchange for resettling the Aviansies to Tarddiad). You can talk to Angof in Burthorpe. Though it’s not a big thing, it is a nice acknowledgement that this subplot exists and isn’t forgotten.

What they said was there would not be a quest - Rite of Passage. They never said they wouldn't be any Armadyl or aviansie content.
