Agreed. It’s taken me just over a week to get to Stormguard. What I will say is that it is absolutely gorgeous. I must have spent about a half an hour just “flying” around with my freecam and taking screenshots.

One of the major obstacles to the development of RoP was the graphical representation of the floating islands, and movement between them. I think Stormguard would imply that that isn't an issue anymore. Guys, I'm starting to feel hopeful again!

I imagine the assets will certainly help, but as Abbinah is not currently on the roadmap horizon , I don't want to go into any real detail here as any answers I give are meaningless at best and dangerously close to promising at worst. Certainly I have plans for things, but those plans can (and likely will) change.

Hate to crush your hopes but it’s for my own good as well.

Has anyone made a Fan Design Document for Rite of Passage?

It’s pretty clear that it is a low priority for Jagex and there is a risk of it remaining on the shelf for several years yet if it is ever made at this point. (7 years delays, all time low quest output, serious incompetence at management level, months of no content at all, little interest in fleshing out the world ect). It would be interesting to see other people’s ideas.

It would be interesting to see other people’s ideas. I’m sure a design document already exists, it’s just not been actioned upon. As for a fan design document, that would have the potential to do the quest a disservice, as fans will all have differing opinions on what to include. Unless there was a fan collaboration, but even then there’d be no guarantee that Jagex would see it and decide to make it. Check out Thieves guild layout redesign. Happy ‘scaping

It is not on the shelf as it is just a Jmod's passion project coming out of Game Jam. If that Jmod has free time to work on his pet project, I think it can still come out, or he may have better idea so Rite of Passage may come out in a different form.

I’ve brainstormed about it and have made the beginnings of some content design pitches, but those are about Abbinah as a whole, and also made as a pitch for an “expansion.” Basically just half-finished pipe dreams that I just don’t have the time or energy to put into form because what’s the point?

I advocated for years we get something smaller but that also gives us maybe as much Armadyl/Aviansie lore as we could get from RoP and we got Stormguard Citadel, which I’m happy enough to “settle for”. At this point I see no scenario in which the story goes randomly to Abbinah, and the story moves at such an insanely glacial pace as it is anyways.

I’m sure I’m not the only person to idly dream about what could have been and maybe even at least attempted their own design document. I won’t discourage it but just be aware that it likely will not match the Jagex version of it (which I am sure does exist).

In news that shouldn't surprise anyone, Rite of Passage as a quest is now considered "less likely than it has ever been" in terms of a giant quest that takes us to Abbinah and so on.

However, this does not mean there will be no more Armadyl story/content. We no longer (and never truly did) need Abbinah in order to get Armadyl content, and I for one am glad to see that they're untying Armadyl getting more content from this quest.

I don't know about you guys, but I would happily take actually getting something like Stormguard Citadel over being stung along forever hoping that a concept - no matter how fantastic, grandiose, and good it might be - becomes reality and putting all the eggs in that basket.

We know the Ilujanka are coming from Iaia. Actually their pioneers have decided to follow the World Guardian. :)

Perhaps the Avansies will come from Abbinah to join the World Guardian and the Seren Council soon too. Gielinor is going to have an Air Force.

That said, we may have no needs to to to Abbinah and Iaia. The Stormguard Citadel can be the midway station for the Gielinorean Air Force. :)
