I don't interpret Mod Raven's proposal to be a cut on any dialogue or story. In fact, we might even be getting more dialogue with this proposal (as opposed to a more rewards-focused proposal), or some post-quest lore tidbits to search for after the quest is done (akin to the Memoriam Crystals from Fate of the Gods ).

By focusing on the "core quest," the lore and interactions with characters will take precedence over adding in any superfluous islands that aren't necessary for the actual quest. I think he really just meant that each character won't have 1000 words. I would imagine Aralim or Cheveeyra would still have a lot to say, but if, for example, Taw'Paak or Taka'ra make an appearance, they'd have less to say since they are not as crucial to the plot.

Yeah this is what I was getting at.

Let's be honest, it's me, I'm still going to try and write another novel's worth of unnecessary bonus dialogue, because that's what I enjoy doing. But this way round I'm not trying to create strange artificial dialogue systems so that the incidental aviansie have conversations with each other, in order to make the world feel alive.

But damn would a system like that be cool. Can just imagine the birdpeople wandering from island to island and every once in a while a pair of them would run into each other, stop, and start a conversation unique to those two specific NPCs. Admittedly its entirely unnecessary, and the precedent it would set would be scary, but its a wonderful dream.

Kinda getting to the point where you can just skip the mini-quest, and put a small library in the Citadel (mini-version of Varrock Library or Menaphos Library) where Armadyl tapped into something that made him start writing on the history of the Avianese, the history of Abbinah, his own history, etc (or at least from his Point of View).

You'd think some in game books would be slightly less work than the graphics and everything needed for a mini0quest or what not.

I just want to know how Armadyl ascended. If this is revealed in a miniquest, so be it. If it is revealed in RoP, so be it. I just want to know, and sooner rather than later....
To those cursed by war and pest, Come into the light of Armadyl and rest. This is the law of Armadyl.

About alternatives...Back in the day shortly after World Wakes, a dream of mine was always to have an Aviansie/Armadylean colony in Eagle's peak.

It's a good place for avians to live and not much happens there. It'd be great to see a settlement built there.

I kinda miss the simple old quests that were about helping a tribe settle or helping some random people. I remember when you got dozens of quests per year, but now we barely get any.

I'd love that! Definitely something to keep in mind for some later content. This kind of thing exists already to some extent: Giebies will greet you as you walk by, and there's also the worker going between the Dig Site and the Museum who interacts with the guards. This proposal is a bit more complex, though, but it's still nice.

The miniquest would still be necessary, though. I don't think Sliske would just allow Armadyl to waltz on back to the Citadel and take it over. This is Sliske we're talking about here, he'd of course have left some traps there to make Armadyl work for getting the citadel back. And we'd also be getting some lore from the miniquest itself.

We all do. But the telling has to be done right. A basic element of storytelling that you'd learn in any creative writing class is tgat it's better to show, rather than tell. We could, for example, just have Armadyl's God Saga portray his ascension to godhood, but the way Jagex wants to do it is have us stumble upon it while doing something seemingly unrelated. (The other problem with this apprach is that God Sagas seem to have been abandoned—people ask about it, and maybe I should have asked about it at Runefest, but I've never seen an answer. It also doesn't seem to even be an item of Unfinished Business. But I'll tell you what—if they do another VIP Q&A, or when they do the next one, I'll try to remember to ask about it.)

A fascinating idea, to be sure. However, retconning in an Aviansie colony at Eagle's Peak probably isn't feasible. However, it might be possible with an Eagle's Peak rework to have some modern Aviansies build something in the area. The problem is, those particular Eagles are VERY territorial, and the quest Eagle's Peak unlocks a transportation system. However! We could go crazy and replace the Eagle's Peak quest with a quest about helping the Aviansies build their nests there. There's precedent for tgis kind if a wuest rewrite, too—after all, Death of Chivalry was a complete rewrite of Black Knight's Fortress, which also came with a greaphical overhaul to the fortress.

If I ever get around to making a suggestions thread for Aviansie/Atmayl quest ideas that aren't RoP, this would be an interesting idea to consider. If or when I ever do this, I'll be sure to credit you for inspiring it!

Oh no, I wasn't meaning a retcon. I was meaning a quest where say.. Ta'kara returns to the tower and asks the player to help his people settle. You'd go to the settlement site and the Aviansie just arrived, and during the quest you help them build structures, find food, etc. By the end of the quest there's an Aviansie colony there with some vendors, some lore and such. And since it won't need a new world to be made it'd be a good way to have a medium level quest that involves helping some Aviansie settle on Gielinor. Armadyl did mention finding a home for his people on Gielinor after all, and Eagle's peak seems like a nice place for a winged race since nobody really lives there and it's close to the World gate.

No, I don't think you meant a retcon. I went crazy and took it there. :P

The Eagles, however, do live there. And I don't think they'd exactly take kindly to competition in terms of predators just moving in to their home; Eagles are very territorial birds, as many birds of prey tend to be, and very protective of their young, as we can see in the quest "Eagle's Peak".

That's why I went crazy and said "what if, along with a graphical rework of the place, we do a whole quest rewrite, kind of like how Death of Chivalry graphically updated a place and also updated the quest associated with that area?"

Anyways, this is getting a bit off-topic here. I'm definitely brainstorming about this and other Not-RoP Aviansie quests, but this isn't the thread for it and I may have gotten us too far off the rails in my excitement. I would like to post a thread for these sorts of things, but I don't have anything solid planned out (and I wouldn't advertise it here directly, either).

On a side note, someone (NOT ME!) has already asked about "Aviansie/Armadyl quest" in the newest VIP Q&A. If I remember, I'll post an update here, but I don't expect to hear anything new from it.
