OSRS is not developed by the Gowers at all.

Not directly . However, it is basically a copy of RuneScape as it existed at an earlier time, so it is more like what the Gowers developed than RS3 is.

It doesn't change the context of this discussion though, as Jagex can take any part of OSRS or RS3 regardless who developed them and make more successful Runescape franchise games.

Speaking of RuneScape remastered, if it were ready for prime time, it would be just the sort of thing to be announced with absolutely no warning, as a total big surprise...

like the Twitch livestream planned for tomorrow, September 24,

when everyone is running out trying to get their hands on an RTX 3090 (well, maybe not everyone ).

It turns out today's "surprise" announcement is RS3 and OSRS are coming to Steam. Maybe the next "surprise" announcement is Runescape Remastered and OSRS2 though.

While I certainly hope that bringing RuneScape to Steam will bring in new players, I have to admit that I'm not sure how it will work out.

RuneScape may not be the type of game that the people on Steam are looking for. Maybe they should have gotten RuneScape Remastered going first - and then put that on Steam.

Then put RuneScape itself on Steam after it's been upgraded by incorporating the technology from RuneScape Remastered into it. That way, it will be able to hold its head up, and not look old-fashioned compared to today's major titles.

RS3 is, because of more MTX. I don't think it works well with OSRS on Steam though, because of only Bond MTX and the 3PCs are probably not allowed on that platform.

I’m always looking for some sort of update on this. I know the majority of the community wants updated graphics plus it would bring in a lot of new players. Kinda odd they’re not pushing it to come out...

The new MMO more than likely will have very modern graphics already. No need for any "updated graphics".

T he only official news I've heard of is Jagex's partnership with Polish game developer, Flying Wild Hog, who will be developing a new sci-fi action RPG that Jagex will publish.

The article is on Jagex's official company website: https://www.jagex.com/en-GB/news/1cADyA/jagex-partners-signs-new-flying-wild-hog-title

Granted, this is not a game Jagex is actively developing themselves. Nevertheless, it'll be interesting to see what it's about and how it pans out. I just hope this partnership doesn't collapse like the ones with Hyper Hippo, Ultizen, and Herotainment.

As for RS Remastered, I'd prefer to wait and see what gets announced. Jagex has a lot on their hands as is.

Edit: Nvm, Dilbert already mentioned this.
