Ah, gotcha. Yeah, I'm disappointed too; I was looking forward to learning more about Araxxor, looking forward to that lore. I remember there was an idea about some kind of a relationship between Araxxor and Castle Drakan, and that just sounded awesome lol. I would love to see the dynamic between Vansecula and the Vampyres, and a big ass f&%k you spider hahaha.

Some of the game jam stuff was never exactly "promised content". I usually put more stock into something the devs would say at Runefest (even if it took years to get into game).

Sometimes, the idea may have just been for fun or to flesh out a story concept or to trial/dev some software tool rather than to full on release something. (though kinda wish they applied that logic to the Evil Dave sequel … if it wasn't for the largeish xp rewards … that quest would be 100% bad)

Yeah haha, my apologies! I'm just figuring out how to run the thread, at least how to run those aspects of it. Maybe I'll have to put Gamejam stuff in its own section, not planned or shelved content. It's become clear that it doesn't belong in either of those places, but it also feels wrong not to archive it somewhere . Hmm.

I'm finally getting a chance to play it (my laptop wasn't working); I absolutely love it. I might go so far as to say that it is everything I've been hoping it would be for the 10+ years I've been wanting an Archaeology skill in RS.

I'm a huge fan of the slow xp rates. I love the lore. I'm a history nerd IRL so getting to actually be an archaeologist is freakin' awesome. The gameplay is varied, between classic grindiness and more modern-style mechanics. I love that they took the "new Mining" approach with regard to the gathering aspect of the skill; Instead of excavation spots depleting, there's a time sprite/rockertunity mechanic that promotes players moving around. In material caches things do deplete, though... not sure how I feel about this yet. In theory I like that difference, I like that there's that mechanic to counter the Mining-style mechanic, but in practice, I am undecided as to how I feel about it for the game and for the players. We'll see.

All in all though, THIS is what a new skill in RS should be! Amazing. Might be my new favorite on release, which is really saying something. I'll admit I had my doubts about not going the elite skill route with Archaeology... but I do think it works.
