Welcome to the third incarnation of the "Quests in the Making" thread. The first two versions were hosted by Amascut, who has given me his blessing to now take over. Cheers, Amascut! Here's to hoping I don't muck it up.

This thread is a place to compile all the available information about upcoming quests and other lore content. This includes both content that is

planned

, and set to be released soon, as well as "potentially upcoming" content -- Content that has been

shelved

, but not cancelled . I will be doing my best to stay on top of things, but without a doubt I'll miss stuff. As such, please help me whenever necessary and possible! Naturally, I'm entirely open to constructive criticism as well, and to any ideas on what other upcoming updates to include underneath the "upcoming lore content" banner.

Amascut pointed out to me that far less is known about quests before their release lately, so this thread may not serve much of a purpose.

While I agree that quests have been fewer & farther between, and are announced in advance less & with fewer details, I don't necessarily agree that that renders this thread 100% pointless. It may, but I'd like to try it anyways. Over the years of following this thread, beyond it serving as an information depository about upcoming quests, I always found it a uniquely opportune place to centralize discussions about upcoming quests & other lore-related content. I hope that continues to hold true enough that we can continue to justify its existence!

Furthermore, a big part of the reason that quests have lately been announced in advance less is because of what Jagex expressed in the Unfinished Business post from July 2017. They acknowledged losing players' trust by announcing many potential updates that never made it to release, so they changed their strategy: Announcing less, but really committing to releasing the things they do announce. Jagex expressed hope that by adopting this change over a long period of time, they could regain the playerbase's trust, and maybe build up to a middle ground between announcing every idea and releasing a small fraction of them, and announcing few concepts and releasing nearly all of them. Presumably, the goal would be to strike a balance Guthix could be proud of (well, if he wasn't dead -- spoiler alert).

Aside from whether or not Jagex has been succeeding with that mission, I think that because of that strategy change, it's possible that the future may shift more focus back on quests. If I'm right, that's another reason this thread could be worth the trouble! Here's to hoping optimism pans out...

- Another quest that Jagex is shooting to release before the end of the year
- Smaller than Desperate Measures, but larger than many key quests
- It's a "significant" quest (so it probably ties into the ongoing main story, and isn't a bottle, standalone, or continuation quest)
- Everything being worked on at the moment is apparently connected lore-wise, which implies this quest ties into Kerapac, Dragonkin, Anachronia, and Elder God lore, and Desperate Times and Desperate Measures

- The Dungeoneering "finale"
- About Daemonheim's 61st floor
- Similar to the Fremennik Sagas
- May be a Grandmaster quest
- May involve playing as Thok, Bilrach, & even Zamorak
- May involve learning more about the events preceding and immediately following the Strange Power
- After Prifddinas, Menaphos, and effectively Fossil Island, Jagex estimates that this may be the next thing players rally around for them to release

- Players will visit the Aviansie homeworld, Abbinah
- May be of Intermediate difficulty
- Among others, may have Agility & Divination requirements in the 30's
- May require completion of Missing, Presumed Death
- Originally featured Linza, but this has likely changed
- May feature the Guardians of Armadyl

- A further installment in the Elder Gods series
- About the Elder God Bik
- "How would we stop Bik if she woke up?"
- Originally planned for late 2017

- A sequel to The Death of Chivalry
- To be developed by Mod Stu
- A plot point will likely revolve around Sir Owen's zombie limb

- Sequel to The Prisoner of Glouphrie
- Largely written
- May be the finale
- May pick up the story Monkey Madness left hanging
- Will involve going to the city of Arposandra
- It's considered a piece of content that players "would like to tick off" but not "one that they desperately want"
- It sounds like Jagex has been ticking off "unfinished business" (first Prifddinas, then Menaphos, then effectively Fossil Island) and they're looking to see what major piece of "unfinished business" players rally behind next. They don't estimate it'll be the Gnome Finale & Arposandra.

- Sequel to Back to the Freezer
- May be called "Goldflipper"
- May involve the Penguin capital

- Sequel to 'Phite Club
- May be of Master or Grandmaster difficulty
- May be the finale
- Will likely further tie together the various loose threads across the multiple Desert storylines
- Will likely involve Amascut (the in-game character) in some capacity

- Sequel to Elemental Workshop IV
- Will involve the Astral & Nature doors
- Mod Rowley plans to tackle these when he has time
- 2 puzzles have already been prototyped
- No more insanely frustrating puzzles like in EW III, more puzzles along the lines of EW IV
- Will have 2 more sequels: Elemental Workshop VI (involving Law & Death doors) and Elemental Workshop VII (involving Blood & Soul doors), which are already outlined

- It's a Vorago origin story
- It's completely written, and completed & developed a third of the way through, but there are little to no art assets or tests so far
- It has an unexpectedly humorous tone for a Vorago-centered quest

- It would be about Merethiel's backstory with her siblings and Solak
- Solak apparently wouldn't be a major component of the quest
- It would take place after Erethdor and Solak are separated
- It would be developed by Mod Ramen, if he has the time

is this thread's archive. It lists all lore-related content updates that at one point were covered on this thread or one of its previous incarnations before their release. During the many years that Amascut hosted this thread

, that was limited to quests & select miniquests.

However, in an attempt to adapt the thread to recent trends, I will be broadening those horizons a little. If an upcoming update is neither a quest nor a miniquest, but is directly connected to either an existing or upcoming quest or miniquest, it will also be detailed on this thread. (For example, Elite Dungeons have a direct connection to a quest (Curse of the Black Stone), despite being neither a quest or a miniquest.)
