Ok, minigames are dead.

What is Jagex going to do next?

I get removal is too much work. Amd they won't just add end game rewards to them.

So what then?

Make minigame items drops? Open or add to existing shops?
Like void knight gear sold at the pest control armor shop for gp?

Rework a minigame into a training method?

I think most of us are just hoping for them to become more accessible.

One way of doing this is to offer single-player modes. This will then drive traffic to the minigames, and may increase the chance of multi-player games happening.

I don't think increasing the rewards on offer is a fix for anything. Doing so will only make another piece of content obsolete, and will only work until rewards have been increased elsewhere making this content obsolete.

I agree - I think making them more accessible and adding single-player modes would help a lot with making minigames popular again. I usually have to wait until my clan plans a minigame event to participate in a lot of them. Which is great for those who are apart of a clan, but not so conducive for players who prefer to 'Scape solo.

RS3 has already done their part with old minigames. We have Minigame Spotlight and the Thaler System. We also have the vastly popular Flash Events.
And yet here we are with this thread, acknowledging that the Thaler system is not currently working as minigames are essentially dead content.

We're talking about classic minigames here, not flash events. They are not one and the same. While flash events are good, it's mostly down to the rewards on offer - both XP and items. One day, these will not be so popular when XP and items increase at other pieces of content.

The problem is the mindset of players these days.

No one does these things anymore because of the power and money creep mindset.
It does not give you the best money/ exp so players do not want it anymore.

I honestly hate this new mindset of people, but its something we cannot change.
I still do miss the old house party and minigame days, but we just cannot change it back sadly :(

More and more people are becoming fully maxed now, and are even hitting all their intended goals on their alt accounts.

There comes a point where money and XP are simply not important anymore, and simply having fun is the aim of the game. Minigames will play an key role in that shift, which I believe will come.

The Thaler system is here to give us the rewards of old minigames and then some new ones. The old minigames are dead, even in OSRS. The difference is there is no Thaler system in OSRS so players are locked out from minigame rewards.

Old minigames are dead, and we don't want to do disturb the dead. Just let them rest in place and we replace them with modern and future minigames modern and future gamers are long for.

When the current flash events become less popular, there will be new ones to replace them in the future. Current flash events are meant for xp and modern rewards. For old minigame rewards like Torso, you can still get them easily attending Spotlights any day and you don't even have to win one such minigame to get the rewards.

But even trying to earn thaler is barely possible right now due to the lack of players at spotlight games.

Yes you can get thaler at solo games, and this is the point. Make more games solo-able, and the thaler system will see more use.

Halloween flash events with big rewards are running now. That shows you players love flash event far more than old minigames, even thalers. If you want to go to Spotlights, better try after 35 minutes after the hour.
