All,

This is an RS3 question. Not OSRS. Please do not try to compare RS3 minigames to OSRS for this topic.

Please do not flame each other.

When you mentioned something (minigames) are dead when there aren't as obviously many players are still playing them, your definition of "dead" is obviously nobody is playing them, and you are comparing them to some to some other games.

"What is Jagex going to do next?"

Jagex clearly told us D&D is the way they wanted to go since they created them like 15 years ago, and more recently when they released Wildyness Flash Events, they also clearly told us they they looked at how the other games like GW2 did minigames successfully and bought us such good ideas.

So what is Jagex going to do next?

I highly doubt anybody knows the answer to this question.

My personal hope is that Jagex would ask players about mini-games and acquiesce to some of the simpler wishes out there regarding them (making more of them single-player start, adding mock opponents in lieu of other players) so that people can still enjoy them even if on their own.

What I -see- happening is literally nothing. Jagex' whole update schedule revolves around seasons of in-game lore and things like fixing mini-games would fall under "ninja strike" or "bug-fix" status with that kind of update model, which means "whenever we get around to it."

Actually I know and have mentioned because they have mentioned it.

They have no plan to make big changes to old minigames. D&D and especially the Flash Event style ones are going to be their new minigames, as they learned it from other successful modern games these are what most players will participate.

At the time of the release of the Wildy Flash Events, they said they were looking to develop more, perhaps outside the Wildyness. Gues what? We are actually getting them in the Halloween Event.

Maybe they can experiment with Great Orb Project. That Runecrafting minigame. On release I told them it would be a lot more fun without people in there.

This whole flash event thing worked well with the Halloween pumpkin hunts. There is a limited amount of rewards and you compete for a bigger share, but otherwise you don't interfere with other players.

IDK if anyone is playing the random combat flash events, but it would be cool if they were swapped out for some new skilling events.

^ making it soloable is a great start. true for almost any of 'em at this point.

Trouble Brewing already has everything in place to turn it into a skill training method. Ditch the "start", the clock, and teams aspect. And just let people need to make the bottles themselves (can't have 1 person collect colored water, another bark, another grubs ... you get each ingredient and it counts towards your own bottles). Viola, a 5-6 skill training method.

Great Orb Project, could also drop the minigame mode and treat it like Fishing Frenzy. Drag in X # of orbs per altar to proceed to the next. Or. Going to a certain altar is merely thematic and you can hang out at a certain altar as long as you want, but you just need to pull in the green or yellow orbs, each for XP.

GOP could be just like the pumpkin hunts, but always open. You play solo but the orbs are instanced for each player. There could be better orbs that are multiplayer, to stir things up.

The problem with GOP back in the day still applies to other minigames. Most players are farming points, and there is a best way to do that which involves cooperation in NOT playing the game.

It's always bothered me because I actually enjoyed pulling the orbs but it's not really available. Tough luck I guess.

Related to that is the general idea that some players don't even want to play the game, but only collect rewards. DG for example.

Dungeoneering IS Runescape. You go in there and play the game. Somehow that is rejected in favor of a hole, tokens for beating elite dungeon bosses, and endless token drops on TH.

I am way past 200M in the skill but I consider the skilling XP drops to be a proper reward by themselves.

Here we go again.
I never did say thalers are the reason why no one plays it.
My opinion is because of the mindset of players these days.
People just want more money/ exp or others best in slot things!

You can read this at one of my first posted things on this thread.

Ofc there are still people like us who really love to play the minigames even solo if they make it this way.
Conquest for example just for fun no rewards needed.

Nope, not always true. A lot RS3 players still play for fun, but they play in CLAN and with friends as I mentioned. Other users even on this thread may have noticed it too.

CLAN Wars, Mega Duck etc don't give money/exp, but plenty of players do them, in CLAN and FC.

The mindset of modern players is to play and socialize with people of the like mind, hence most still successful MMO have big presence of clans and guilds, and by people I mean real people and not bots.
