I didn't expect the last 2 pages to get that heated.

A Cole, Dilber2001,
I appreciate the ... enthusiasm ... but you've gone in a circle now.
If you want to take a post or 10 to suggest everything Jagex should do to a minigame like Stealing Creation to fix it, go ahead. If you want to do that for every minigame they have, go ahead. I'd love to see the creative solutions you have.

But y'all might want to hold off the debating going forward. It's clear you're on different sides.

@A Cole

ALL real business in the real worlds have their analytic and marketing departments. They always collect data and research the market. They don't share and won't ask INDIVIDUAL consumers to agree or disagree with them.

@ignoble one

Why do you think Jagex should do anything to a minigame (old school ones), or 10 of them, when they clearly told us many times their approach to minigames as a whole (old school ones like Stealing Creation, D&Ds, Flash Events and unannounced ones in the futre) is they don't go back in time to make big changes to the existing ones, but will go forward and add news ones based on R&D from their peers and consumers?

I think Jagex have already used their creativity to introduce Minigame Spotlights as well as learning from modern successful games, specially MMORPGs to add D&Ds and Flash Events. That's good enough already.

Let me ask you what's your opinion on clans and minigame FCs? Most minigames only require 5 or so players to start, and how hard is it to 5 people who like old school minigames into a FC and start a minigame of their choice? Note that just from this thread alone, I have seen at least 3 users (including yourself) who are interested in such minigames. How hard is that for the few of you to be proactive playing minigames together in the game instead of the RSOF?

Dilbert many people do not play Runescape at same time because of day time jobs family and other activities.
A lot of players that do these kind of things play totally diffrent way.

It is clear you are on the other side of the coin.
You probally play to get more exp/ money etc and that is totally fine ofc no offense there :D

The minigames are no longer active all day so its harder to just join in 1 or 2 games like before.
Thats why we suggested for a solo able way.
Play against npc's just for fun no rewards those kind of things. :)

Those players with day time jobs family and other activities still have day time jobs family and other activities regardless what Jagex change minigames. That's why Jagex gave them the D&D and Flash Events they can attend at different times for just minutes each.

it is clear you are on the other side of the coin.
I don't play this game for xp and gp at all as I clearly valued the stories, cosmetics, and other fun things.

You can suggest to solo for no reward, but there are also players like OP who seemingly want the drop, and they suggested putting the drop (rewards of course) on different tables making minigames training method (for xp of course). Please read OP first before you pick on someone to criticize.

Dilbert,
I know it took like 3-6 months for them to create a minigame.
I know it took them like 3-6 months to remove a minigame like Rat Pits and even Mobilizing Armies.

I don't know how long it would take for them to add an NPC that has a shop user interface that lists the items for GP.
I don't know how long it would take for them to update existing shop interfaces to include some of the stuff.
But it would be faster than a rework or removing a minigame.

I'm ok if they make a minigame something you can solo. I don't know how long it would take. But I hope it would be faster than a full rework.

I know they reworked Barbarian Assault back in 2014. Updated Pest Control graphically and upped the rewards a little.
I know it didn't work out how they wanted. People didn't keep coming back. They just did Barbarian Assault because now it was a Completionist or Trimmed Completionist requirement.

But maybe by going away from "miningame" to "skill training method" it doesn't need the same level of requirement for it to be useful.
Pest Control can be a Level 40-70 or 80 combat training area.
The Cleanup game on Karamja can be made into the place you go to train Woodcutting from Level 30 to 60 or 70.
Trouble Brewing becomes a way to train Cooking, Firemaking, and Crafting from Levels 50-80.

I also remember the days when Fist of Guthix, Great Orb Project, and Stealing Creation came out.

I remember how slow the skill training methods were.
Runecrafting was 50k/hr to do the Ourania Altar.
Woodcutting wasn't much better.

Great Orb Project comes along and gives you a way to get to an altar ASAP.
Fist of Guthix was needed for F2P to quickly train just doing elemental runes.

Stealing Creation. Before the days of other ways to get bonus xp ..... Stealing Creation was a god send.
You remember how slow mining and woodcutting was back in 2009? Fishing in 2009?
That bonus XP was amazing.

You had to play those games in order to train properly. It was a diversion. But it was worthwhile. That you had fun with it was just icing on the cake.

You want to know what else I remember?

The player that rage quits Great Orb Project because his team lost the first altar. By 2010-2011, this meant that the teams were uneven and the game would automatically end.

The player that raged quit on you for actually bothering to play Fist of Guthix as intended. You try to hide? The other player calls you out once the match goes past 30 seconds.
No. The expectation was you go to the center. Let them kill you. You kill them. Get max tokens as soon as possible.
Or the hypocrite. You try to hide? They rant, They insult. Then when it was their turn? They do the exact same thing. Or if they hid from you first round and then said "oh ... don't hide ... I already won." They still end up rage quitting either way.

How about when Thaler was introduced but the Castle Wars Armor was still a requirement for Trimmed Completionist?
I played Castle Wars and Flash Powder Factory in that time. As in I actually tried to play as intended.
You want to know what happened?
You have 20-30 players there? All but 3-4 were AFK. And if you attacked one? Or stole an aparatus or something? They yell at you. Insult you.
Do you have any idea how demoralizing that is? How depressing that is?

The when the CW armor was removed from Trim Comp? Everyone just went *poof*. No one even there to AFK anymore.

How about Mobilizing Armies?
300 points for the trim comp requirement.
You spend 2 minutes in game. Cannon your own troops. Lobby. Repeat.
If you try to play how Jagex intended the game? Those players cannoned you. Made sure you lost in < 2 minutes so you didn't get points. Or they hopped worlds. Or logged out.
If you didn't rush ... you didn't get to play. You didn't get to make progress.

Dungeoneering even? I can do a small floor in under 5 minutes. 3 often.
If you can't do it in 1-2, you don't get to run with some groups.

Same for some bossing groups.

You might say I'm not running with the right groups. But there aren't enough of us on this very thread to keep some of the minigames going for more than an hour or 2 before we have to do something else. Work. Sleep. Family.

But I've seen the typical player in these minigames.
I'd rather play solo than deal with them.

I also hate pking and pvp.
I'm not alone in that feeling.

We have too many people with rose tinted goggles.

Look around you.
PvP is dead in this game. Bounty Hunter was the last PvP minigame they launched back in 2016. It died the day it launched. They turned it into Bounty Slayer. They made Wilderness PvP optional. They removed the Duel Arena. Bringing back PvP won't change anything.

We aren't a multi player game. We are a bunch of solo players who sometimes happen to come across each other to do the same thing for a few minutes.
Minigames need to reflect this.

Let those who want to do it be able to do it. Even if it means doing it alone.
Make rewards accessible to those who want it.

Plus look at the rewards these days.
Void Knight Gear is Level 40 and reaches what? Level 60? 70? for accuracy.
The best robes from Fist of Guthix are Level 50. Great for F2P. Not so much for members.
Stealing Creation armor is Level 50. The tools are Level 50. We also have the Toolbelt. I'm fine if they make everything a cosmetic override. but if they did that, people would play just long enough on release day to get the points to buy the armor and tool cosmetic overrides. By the next day, it'd be dead again.

Make the Fist of Guthix Level 20 and 30 robes a drop somewhere and make the Level 50 Robes a drop from KBD and Chaos Elemental, or even Revenants.
Or just add them to a shop for 100-300k gp.

Basic Void Knight Armor could be sold for 500k each for all I care.

Something. ANYTHING. Needs to be done.

I told you Jagex have already done that "something". They are D&Ds and Flash Events. You just don't like them and you refuse to accept the facts that most RS3 players like them. You just refuse to admit natural selection has already shown in the game.

Good that you realized Jagex tried to rework old minigames like BA in 2014 but players didn't like it. That's why they went with D&Ds. If they rework failed in 2014, why would it work in 2023 and why would Jagex wanted to even waste time on legacy content that failed 10 years from the get go already?

Some items are supposed to be earned from playing the game and not bought with gp. That's why they don't sell everything for gp in this game. Why should minigames be different?

If they want to put such minigames items not sold for gp outside minigames, they can easily add them as rare drop to other more popular minigames AKA D&Ds and Flash Events. There is no need to add a shop or rework old minigames, and why should bosses like KBD drop them when they can be dropped far more appropriately from the more popular KBD in Flash Events?

We can already get xp rewards from old minigames in D&Ds and Flash Events, and we get far more, so again old minigames aren't meant for xp, and if you insist to get xp you can get thems easily from Thalers playing ANY minigame on spotlight.
