"RS3 put Aquarium in POH because it is the
kind of content we have in real life
. They don't put an island, 2 farms, a slayer dungeon and a fort there because they simply don't belong in a real life home." - Page 4, Post 5

'So
cosmetic
updates like
Achievements Showcase
, new wallpapers and such are still quite possible, but as far as a farming patch inside our home is just anti-climatic when we already have 2 proper POF outside POH." - Page 5, Post 1

I don't think I can make thing any clearer than what I have written, and these are not just my "personal belief". RS3 Jmods actually told us these since Runefest 2011.

I'm not asking for my own livestock pens outside of PoF or RooT. I'm asking for, -maximum- fitting an outdoor room with a flower, two allotment, and an herb patch - or an herb and a tree patch.

It's -not- anti-climactic at all. It rewards players with Construction levels additional farming patches.

Player Owned Farms doesn't slot itself as naturally into farm run because tending to all of your livestock takes sufficient time. That -would- be more prone to keeping players sequestered in their own little instance. Leave PoF where it is, that's -too- big of an update for the POH.

---

If you don't believe people have outdoor gardens where they farm their own produce, or a greenhouse in the real world, you're out of your mind. That ABSOLUTELY exists in real life. It's tangible reward space, and it could be used to make you more money per farm run...

and you're out here complaining about my opinion because we already have PoF? The Ardy Farm patch was already there before Granny Potterington moved in. Even if we -didn't- have PoF I would still be asking for an -additional- patch on land that -I- actually own!

---

You can keep posting Jagex's "vision" as much as you want. I want -your- opinion.

Here's the thing. Things can most certainly change in the span of 12 years. In 2011, were they anticipating reception to the Evolution of Combat turning off roughly half of their active player base and resulting in mass petitions to open up previous game states, ultimately leading to Old School Runescape being released?

They may have had a storyboard in place, but were they anticipating being owned by different financial groups, experiencing certain staff turnovers, etc?

It's been 12 years. I don't particularly care what Mod Mark said back then - if my responses to you at this point haven't been abundantly clear.

I'm not against any POH update but herb patch seems like a bad idea now. The last thing we need is further increased production of herbs.

Regarding what the mod said years ago, that whole concept was reinforced by the current devs in a 'state of the game' livestream. Basically they laid down their game plan and I am totally onboard with it.

You can't just have every player hidden away in an instance all the time. It would be easy to get there. But terrible for business.

@I Hilda I

When we already have 2 POFs as well as lots and lots and expanding farming patches in RS3, why do we want to put new ones in POH? Why don't we put them in our Player Owned Island and Fort Forinthry rather?

We have all kinds of skilling activities in our Player Owned Island but no farming. Farming patches may make a good expansion choice.

Likewise, and perhaps more prudent to the communal training and battle ready aspects of Fort Forinthry, it will only be logical we can farm and create food and potions for the new troops we are likely going to recruit and put into the Barracks we may have in the next batches of Fort buildings.

As a somewhat cynical old user, I find myself quite liking this new fort update.

IMO it should be possible to relocate your house there and/or introduce a portal to tele to it. and also other elements like the POF ( although the Ardy stone is adequate in that purpose at least for one of them)

Having a hub for all those activities all in one place makes the game less tedious and I look forward to the further developments on this feature over the coming months.

Kudos for Jagex for doing this. As a side benefit having a lodestone makes it easier getting to this area of the world map, and the old lumberyard was well overdue for retirement IMHO

Great to have an update that most players can enjoy and has a long lasting benefit to QoL play

We actually can, and greatly benefits from new herbs, when they come in a confined economy like Daemonheim Dungeoneering.

I have been thinking about new farming, herbs, potions and such in The Arc since it has its economic system is totally isolated from the other players. However, this idea may work even better with the New Fort. This definitely won't work and is illogical with our legacy POH.

The only thing I use my POH for are the things I need for other skills, like repairing armour, making teletabs, alter, workbench etc. I don't care one bit about owning a POH. If those things were accessible outside in the normal world, and I didn't have a POH, I would be just as happy.

Same thing with the fort. It is just a place to train skills, because I can get rested XP bonus there. I don't care if it is my own or not.

To me POHs are a flop. It is the most stupid way of training construction that anyone could possibly come up with. And owning a house is irrelevant in a game like this. There are sims games that do that sort of thing much better. I never thought they belonged in RuneScape.

If they keep expanding Fort Forinthry, perhaps it will become A Town of Our Own after this Necromancy themed series.

When war is behind us, we may begin to see municipal construction projects. Perhaps we will have a dino zoo, POF3 among other new things. Nobody will be talking about the legacy POH by then.

There's a player-owned island?

I like my house. I like my two teleport rooms, which are a convenient way to leave when I'm doing something at home. I like my parlor with its bookshelves where I can store books. I like my costume room with all its storage - which I can access now from my bank, nice feature. I like my menagerie that lets my pets wander about where I can gloat a bit about having them. I don't entertain much but, really, a lot of a POH is about showing off and entertaining buddies - I guess people don't do that as much as they used to.

Really, my only complaint about the fort is there's no place to cook, which is a rather odd lack given that this thing is supposed to be able to withstand a siege. I can always cook over an open fire, but it just seems like an odd omission for a fort.

I do like that idea about making some way to access your POH from your fort. That would really be the icing on the cake for me.

Yes, RS3 players can claim our own island from any Uncharted Island we visit. We can customize it with items we buy with chimes too.

We just plant our flag there:

It won't surprise me there will be some new cooking content in our player owned Fort, but it should come after we recruit our armies and build a barrack first before we think about feeding them.
