Jagex may be looking for loose change, but they aren't stupid.

You put up t97 gear on the Marketplace and you kill any hype you have for the next boss release right then and there.



As long as T97 gear is buyable with gp, we can buy them with Bond MTX already. However, the RS3 economy is totally player driven. They won't just artificially fix the price of T97 gear to a specific amount of gp. Neither will they rob other items with GE tax to make T97 gear look "expensive".

Bond MTX is already Jagex's way of monetizing T97 gear already, if they ever come out and are tradeable.

Yes, I absolutely think Jagex do make more money on MTX (note: MTX as what the entertainment industry and real world regulators defined, not some Jagex game players proclaimed).

It won't surprise me a lot of Jagex Bond MTX revenue just got transferred to another of their game when they replaced Sands Casino from RS3 with the non-gambling while the very same Sand Casino in the other game was only being modified into any gambling Arena.

All games of the sizes of Jagex's Runescape games need more MTX to survive than most of their players think. Jagex might be able to hide their
true MTX color
before the regulation net closed in, but now we know they are actually legally and officially MTX.

They make more from subscriptions.

All Financial information is relevant for the Year Ended 2021. Jagex considers Bonds, TH Keys, and RuneCoins to be MTX.

Jagex made £88,940,273 from Subscriptions. ($110,462,484).
Jagex made £34,557,610 from MTX. ($42,920,033).

Interesting. Guess a lot more people actually buy VIP, instead of using Bonds, than I thought. But remember much that is in VIP is MTX.

110,462,484 / 1.1 million = $100 or an average of $8.3 per member per month, compared to regular subscription rate of $12.5 a month.

Obviously, majority of the paid members took advantage of deep discounts subscription offers, and Premier Club membership comes to mind easily.

Now, assuming we didn't have MTX, then we definitely wouldn't have TH keys, Premier Reward Tokens, Hero Pass/Yak Tracks among other SGS cosmetics and aura in our Premier Club offer. Do you honestly think we would still have 1.1 million "subscribers"? :D

I have been saying it for a long time (probably the last 2 years), RS3 has actually been focusing in selling membership in recent years over MTX recently. They have just been using Premier Club as overwhelmingly the best value to play the game. Premier Club is comprised of a lot of MTX content and with a paid subscription of 1 year at deep discount rate of about $7.5 a month is essentially a big reduction of MTX.

You are guaranteed a year's worth of cosmetics, pets and other junk. Plus more TH keys. I saved my keys for about 7 months because the TH events stunk. Ended up with over 100 keys. Used to get 2 levels of farming 114 and 115.

Don't forget RS3 has given members free bankslots, action bars, bank presets etc that previously must be bought with MTX. It is obviously their monetization approach has switched to less MTX and buy membership get MTX benefits.

yep the added bank slots. I confess I really need to cleanup bank. But helped with Archeology.

Focus Storage clear up even more bank spots for me too. Now all the bones saved for prayers are in the Focus Storage.
