I've never understood why it's so important to so many people that nobody else has what they have. If you enjoy it so much, wouldn't it be a good thing to have others enjoy it too? I honestly don't get it.

From my perspective, it seems like a really sour way to look at events that supposed to be fun for everyone, whoever they are and however long they may be a part of the game. Maybe I'm just wei-- no... no I'm definitely weird, but I still don't get it.

I remember in my thread complaining about the lucky dip items, I got the exact opposite responses. So it seems like peoples opinions change depending on what my opinions are, curious.

I believe the arguments for the lucky dip were:

"if every one had them, they wouldn't be special or unique anymore"

But I guess it's just not the same.

Before veteran capes were released, untradeable holiday items were how people marked how many years you've played. The rarity of them was what gave it value.

it just seems weird that people who played in 2009 and got the web cloak, no longer have that, but people who played before and got the skeleton outfit and scythe get to. just seems weird.
Theres been suggestions floated around the forums to do something about things like the golden items. One was to put in tradable Ornament kits similar to the things dropped from QBD as rewards from Shade Catacombs. Not sure which thread that was on though.

And honestly the should just allow all holiday items to be regotten. Even tradable ones. Most other games I play do not limit items and cosmetics and have ways of periodically re-releasing things.

Why should the market be ruined just because ppl missed out on items?

If you truly cared about them you'd save up enough money and earn one instead of demanding them be handed to you for free.

Market this, market that. Ask yourself this. Why should the market be driven by a few select things YOU CAN'T EVEN GET ANYMORE? Anything else in the game, if it gets too expensive, people could just grind it out for themselves. But it's going to get to a point where no amount of playing will ever be able to get you these items. Items that were never intended to be anything more than silly little fun toys. It's just, not logical.

^Yes and jagex plans on fixing said issues not by rereleasing said items but by increasing the gp amount among other things.

Plus if these were truly meant to be nothing more than "fun toys" than they wouldve been rereleased by now and we wouldnt be here having this discussion.

It's impossible to earn enough GP LEGITIMATELY for anybody to actually afford a party hat.
if you want rares now you have to basically gamble or be gifted one.
You can't earn them through intended gameplay mechanics.

also Jack, I'm not gonna name names, but you might be responding to a troll.

There's certainly extreme bias on both sides. The OG Bunny Ears and Scythe for example have had similar items released in the past (i.e. Squirrel Ears, Cottontail overrides, Christmas Scythe) due to their high demand, yet never really have come close to be the same thing. These items in particular have been done time and time again, therefore I don't foresee any further release on these -- especially being from the very early days of RuneScape. The Web Cloak is arguably different. An item that has few replications in the past and less demand overall. Does it still suck for those whom valued obtaining it in 2009? Absolutely. Does it hold value to others alongside just more than yet? Yes. I understand both sides and am conflicted on Jagex moving forward on re-leasing more older, untradeable holiday items unannounced for no real reason. Recoloured tradeable items I understand. Just keep doing that and that alone. Because once more, the prestige value towards the OG remains untouched.

Mmm... I mean, the web cloak isn't as old as some of the more iconic old items. But still, for some players it is still a sign of veteran prestige. I don't think it was necessary to re-release it.

Though, personally I wouldn't mind getting it again. Keyword: again. I had a lot of old veteran items on my old account. Then I gave it all up to play Iron mode because being able to get away from the player-based economy meant so much to me. That doesn't make me any less of a veteran though.

That said, even though I wish I could reclaim all my veteran items, if it's achieved in a way that destroys the veteran status of those items, there isn't quite as much point. Though it's still kind of nice to be able to get my old web cloak back. I suppose maybe that is part of what Jagex was thinking here. Though really, I doubt it was for quite so sincere a reason...

Is there now? As long as it's not against the ToS I'd be very interested to make use of this. There are a number of trolls on this forum that I would love to be able to permanently hide.

I'm sure that said troll in a sad attempt to stop people from hiding him, will report this as off topic, but here: 278-279-13-66139123

Use that Quick find code for a guide on how to do what I'm talking about.

Also I appreciate your opinion on the web cloak as discussed earlier.
I agree with your opinion on the web cloak , and I'm glad you also agreed with me too :)

When it comes to the relevant topic of holiday items , Jagex should consider the feelings of old and new players alike :D

Would have been great to see a recolor of the web cloak rather than re-releasing the OG version.
