I don't know where OP get the impression old event items are exclusive.

We get them often. For instance, even my FSW alt is getting the iconic Golden Joystick Award gift - the Golden Cracker without even going to the main game. :)

Man you're so right they should just re-release all the holiday items to every one.

Jagex should let me buy the 2003 scythe, and redrop party hats.

In the right occasions, they may release old items. What makes zero sense is to release everything at the same time or release them in the wrong time, like giving us a Wintumber Tree in Summer Beach.

I honestly will never understand the elitist attitude of not wanting holiday items re-released. It's obvious you enjoy some of your holiday items, why would you deny newer players from having the same enjoyable experience?

Why do you need to have something unique to "show that you were there"? We have Year capes for that.

Then they should rerelease the original scythe and bunny ears

I agree with Abby, Either Jagex releases it all or none at all, no Half Measures

It's not fair on those players who started in 2009 to have their oldest Halloween Items released in this manner whilst others who started earlier can still bandy about their items as proof of how long they've been playing

You can't put the Scythe and the Bunny Ears on a Pedestal. Eek and the Web Cloak share the same value to those players who obtained them when compared with older Holiday Items. There is no difference between Cosmetics released in 2003 and those released in 2009

So Jagex if you want to release Legacy Holiday items, A good way to start would be to release the Jester Scarf and other 2005 items this Christmas as well as the 2004 Yo-yo. That way we can know that no Holiday Item is truly sacred and all Veteran players will be treated equally

All the old holiday events were fun back then.

What a novel concept. This is a game and games should maybe be fun, afterall. Brilliant.

I'm totally fine with dumping all the old holiday items back into the game but I don't even think people should have to work for them if they don't want. Just throw it all in Thessalia's clothing shop alongside the mime outfit, frog masks, etc. None of this stuff should be exclusive, particularly the tradeable "rares" that put a ton of pressure on the game economy. Open the whole thing up to everyone and be done with it. The game would be better off.
I mean theres nothing wrong with that, but why not give people something they can do when they have nothing else to do. Reason Random Event rewards were added is you could gain multiple. Holiday event rewards it's one, then you destroy and reclaim for free from Diango. So let people experience the fun we did as players. Why let them be left out? Party hats and other tradable rares are fine to be added though.

I've never understood why it's so important to so many people that nobody else has what they have. If you enjoy it so much, wouldn't it be a good thing to have others enjoy it too? I honestly don't get it.

From my perspective, it seems like a really sour way to look at events that supposed to be fun for everyone, whoever they are and however long they may be a part of the game. Maybe I'm just wei-- no... no I'm definitely weird, but I still don't get it.
Be the change you would like to see in the world.

Do people honestly care about that? I can't even imagine being that vain.
None of these items were ever intended to be "proof" of anything. They're supposed to fun novelty trinkets, not badges of dubious prestige.

It never made sense that Jagex would put a bunch of development time into the old style holiday events, which were essentially miniquests, only to service the existing playerbase of the moment. So for that, I agree with what you were saying about replayability of those events. I just meant that the rewards which are overly sought after now should be made available for a nominal amount of coins just like the old random event gear is now.

There's no reason to lock all this stuff behind history, including the tradeable "rares" which only serve to skew the game economy.

I remember in my thread complaining about the lucky dip items, I got the exact opposite responses. So it seems like peoples opinions change depending on what my opinions are, curious.

I believe the arguments for the lucky dip were:

"if every one had them, they wouldn't be special or unique anymore"

But I guess it's just not the same.

Before veteran capes were released, untradeable holiday items were how people marked how many years you've played. The rarity of them was what gave it value.

it just seems weird that people who played in 2009 and got the web cloak, no longer have that, but people who played before and got the skeleton outfit and scythe get to. just seems weird.
