Whilst I don't personally have a problem with bringing back old holiday items, I get that it's a sensitive subject for a lot of players.

I think Jagex really needs to step back and put it to the players: Should we re-release old untradeable items or not. It'd be better than cherry-picking a few random items here & there.

My opinion was, and still is, that they should have an old holiday event portal. Players then play the event and get the reward. Completing all the themed events would get you the dropped untradeables (e.g. Complete all H'ween events, get the scythe). That way the items aren't just given away, but removes the time lock window.
They could even do something that guarantees a temporary exclusivity for (e.g.) 5 years. So, players today could play any H'ween events from 2003-2017 and get those rewards, 2018-2022 rewards are "exclusive". But upon release of the 2023 event, the 2018 event becomes replayable.

That prevents an item becoming extinct by allowing new players to get the item but still requires them to actually do the same work. Plus it makes the event content itself permanent. If you only do what you can do, you will never be more than you are now.

Feeling like you "earned" any holiday giveaway from any time period is incredibly silly. They're literally free cosmetic costumes that mean nothing. If I saw you walking around with the web cloak and found out it was a 2009 exclusive, I would not see you as a more "elite" player because you happened to log in on Halloween in 2009 and do a silly little mini quest for it. The only prestige items that mark any long term player is a veteran cape. Untradeable holiday items are supposed to be fun, and getting mad that new players can get a stupid looking cape is just sad.

From what I'm finding too, most players on this game are veteran players, so there really is very little a Halloween cape is doing to impress anyone. If anything it just sparks nostalgia for people.

What is the difference between how it was earned either? You did a miniquest and someone else stood at a minigame for 2 hours. What is really the difference? All I see if you both PLAYED THE GAME.

I'm not upset that new people who didn't play in 2009 can get the web cloak, I'm upset because the new rewards don't look as cool as I hoped they would, but honestly neither does the web cloak, so were still par for the course.

Yea its a shame how they "updated" the cloak for males but the females still has the old variant.

I don't know where OP get the impression old event items are exclusive.

We get them often. For instance, even my FSW alt is getting the iconic Golden Joystick Award gift - the Golden Cracker without even going to the main game. :)

What a novel concept. This is a game and games should maybe be fun, afterall. Brilliant.

I'm totally fine with dumping all the old holiday items back into the game but I don't even think people should have to work for them if they don't want. Just throw it all in Thessalia's clothing shop alongside the mime outfit, frog masks, etc. None of this stuff should be exclusive, particularly the tradeable "rares" that put a ton of pressure on the game economy. Open the whole thing up to everyone and be done with it. The game would be better off.

Man you're so right they should just re-release all the holiday items to every one.

I dont see how this makes any sense at all whatsoever?

You need to learn that jagex can and will rerelease w/e they want when they want as this is their game.

Just because some ppl get upset over something they more than likely arent using, doesnt mean they cant.

Even if you are, that still doesnt mean anything.
