Absolutely brilliant as we just found out that Australia has voted YES for marriage equality! It only took us 4 years longer than most of the world, but we did it, finally!

Grats!! But I don't think you are behind the rest of the world. Unfortunately, there are still many states and countries yet to catch up. And even the countries that have progressed so far still have battles to fight.
Someday, long after I'm gone, I hope that this is a battle that no one remembers even having to fight. When we all just love and accept each other.

No it's not- it should be normalized like any other union between 2 people.
Celebrating it only keys in on the fact that, for the longest time, it was considered unnaturnal and unfit for proper human to human romance by society, which mitigates what advocacy is all about and just reinforces the notion that, to some degree, it's still considered abnormal by society, for lack of a better term. We are better than that.
Therefore, I do not see why we should create something out of effective nothing.

I disagree.
- it's a huge step foward and I believe every step foward we take for a better world is a celebration on its own

It was also a huge step forward when autists were no longer being thrown into insane asylums (Check this if you don't believe me- it was once considered a subdiagnosis of schizophrenia).
Was that celebrated? No. Why should this be any different?

Being gay was once considered not only unnatural, but also a sin. I'm not sure if autism was labelled a sin before, and never heard of any instances of such.
In any case, can we please get replayable Sliske's Endgame?

It wasn't labelled a sin, but it was once labelled as a psychosis due to it being a subdiagnosis of schizophrenia until the early 1970s, when the DSM slipped it from said subdiagnosis and made it its own entity.
But yea.

Progress has to be celebrated in order to be fully recognised. It's only by celebrating change that we have the strength and energy to push for even greater changes.
It will naturally become normalised with time. But failing to properly acknowledge that it was something we had to work for will result in people taking it for granted and also forgetting the mistakes of the past.
