Keepsaking an armor will make it useless, yes it'll never degrade but it's just a cosmetic override when keepsaked. You will need to buy another set of armor to have some kind of defense.

In order to keepsake something, it must be at "unused state" which is 100% charge. A keptsake item become cosmetic, therefore it provide no stats. When you wear a keepsake item, you are basically naked with no armor on. And keptsake items do not degrade while them are in the keepsake box
