You will never have a problem in RS3 when you opt-out of Wildy PvP. You can just laugh at the scammers in RS3, but just report them in OSRS if you are an unfortunate victim but bear in mind they don't return lost items in OSRS.

Even if you opt out the item the noob trades to the victim will skull them and make them attackable by anyone.

And again, I never fell for this myself or any scam since 2006 lol - so I'm not posting this asking for st00f back. I'm bringing a scam that invovles bug abuse to attention that seems to be ignored and that is difficult to report the offenders for.

We learned from 2006 don't trade anybody in the Wildy already.

If the "item" the noobs trades to the victim is cursed energy, they don't exist anymore as of last week as they are turned into normal energies. Kudos to the RS3 team to keep all of us RS3 players from 2006 scammers. :)

It's the skull thingy that looks like Zamorak, still in the game to my knowledge.

There will always be scams - again the subject of this thread is that there isn't an efficient way to report anyone other than the noob who are on the luring team and that a bug is used to force the victim out into the wildy

Very good news to you then. The Demonic Skull is already changed TODAY:

"If you are carrying the demonic skull on you and you enter the Wilderness you will be skulled, but upon leaving you will be able to remove the demonic skull and not need to opt out of PvP at Vala."

Even before the update and since 2006, it was unwise to trade with a skull player in the Wildy in all of RSC/RS2/RS3/OSRS anyway.

In the scam the person has it in their inventory in wildy.

I'm aware trading in the wilderness is bad and entering the wilderness is at one's own risk lol.

To simplify the point of this thread:

- There isn't a way to effectively report the people doing this scam (successful or not) as only the throwaway account says / does anything you can report them for. Reporting the "good guy" will come off as a false report, and most likely the victim won't see the pkers name and people who catch the scammers without falling victim will never even see the pker.

- The scam is only successful because of an exploit that causes a character stall. I'd offer to demonstrate for you but I don't know how the character stall works - only that it's an exploit of some sort.

Try it. We can't trade Demonic Skull in the Wildy anymore.

The moral of the story is don't just believe in rumors. Perhaps the ones who told you about these "scams" are the scammers themselves. Perhaps they are players disinterested in RS3 and they don't know a thing and thought RS3 ignore scams. Most importantly, pay attention to the frequently updated RS3 content news, especially the more recent ones that are guided by COMMUNITY surveys, with data collected from the RS3 players who are interested and played in RS3 recently.

It's traded before entering the wildy.

Again though - the point is about the ability to report the main account and the bug being used. Personally I don't feel sorry for the people who fall for lures. It's just upsetting that such an exploit is ignored and maxed accounts with phats are able to freely take part in executing them

Oh I've encountered this scam many times. I entertain them up to the point of asking me to withdraw all my best items (that's when I report them and laugh at wasting their time).

Then it is not a scam. You can buy a demonic skull from the mage outside the abyss yourself too. Don't tell us the mage "scam" you. You get a warning message telling you about the consequences of acquiring a demonic skull either through trading or buying all the time.
