There is a popular scam going around that involves an exploit that Jagex seems to ignore. It is a lure where three people are in on it but only one of the 3 ever says anything incriminating enough to report.

I have NEVER fallen for this scam myself

For those unfamiliar, this is how it works. There are 3 scammers: The noob, the good guy, the pker

The noob (typically a lvl 3 but I've seen them as high as the 120s before) is an obvious scammer. They have a friend (or their main account) who is typically lvl 138 with a phat jump in to warn you while also egging you on to counter-scam the noob. 10-20 minutes of sheer nonsense later the noob exploits a character stall bug that forces the victim to leave the safe zone of the wilderness against their will - which is where the PKer comes in.

It would be wonderful if the bug that's exploited for this could be patched and / or if there was a more streamline method of reporting a team of scammers vs only the one person who says anything reasonably incriminating. Especially since it's unlikely the victim will even have an opportunity to catch the PKer's name.

And again - this isn't some plea to get st00f back as I never fell for this myself. It's just something that I witness being attempted too often.

in the interest of player safety posting a full step by step guide on a scam is never a good idea as it will only serve to teach others how the scam works and perform it themselves

The problem is that a bug is being exploited. It goes a step beyond just taking advantage of someone's naivety.

True, however I didn't explain how the bug works as I don't even know myself. Elaboration is to point out what to look for and explain why this scam is different from all the others out there.

The problem is that a bug is being exploited. It goes a step beyond just taking advantage of someone's naivety.

if its a bug then you report it ingame instead of as werewolf has said, give a step by step guide.

I have! Many others aware of it have as well. The problem is that multiple people are involved with the scam but only the noob says anything incriminating and performs the bug abuse. The pker in the team -technically- only clicks on the victim and the good guy doesn't say anything reportable.

You will never have a problem in RS3 when you opt-out of Wildy PvP. You can just laugh at the scammers in RS3, but just report them in OSRS if you are an unfortunate victim but bear in mind they don't return lost items in OSRS.
