Does the Grand Exchange have a pattern of when it updates prices?

I'm not talking about items like half wine jug. I mean more like items from the top 100 traded list.
It never seems to be the same time during the day. It has to have some sort of pattern unless it waits for certain items to hit a certain volume
(="quota&quot ;)
.

It updates once per day between 3am and 9pm GMT (or +1 hour to both times depending on daylight saving or w/e). This timing was always random, and unless they have changed it I highly doubt anyone has cracked the code. Suppose the GE picks 15:00 for an update time today.
At (or by) 15:00, every single item is considered for a price update. Each item has a "quota" which needs to be achieved in order for the price to be updated. This quota can be considered to be a points value. One successful trade may be worth 10 points. One GE offer may be worth 1 point (This is just an example - no one knows the ins and outs of this system, however items can update without any trades occurring - hence my 1 point comment). Something like yew logs will no doubt have a much larger quota than third age or your half wine example. So, all items are considered simultaneously, but different times on different days. The GE doesn't wait for items to "hit a certain volume" (=quota) - instead it just doesn't update their price if this isn't hit and waits to check again the next day. It also is cumulative, which is why items like the half wine do eventually update.

There are no doubt some subtleties to this to stop price manipulation by trading amongst friends or putting lots of really low buy offers or really high sell offers, but this is the idea.

I logged in after ~50 days and one of my GE offers completed within a couple of minutes. Was just before xmas. They don't auto sync up, though. It requires someone else to make a new offer.

E.g.

-You offer to sell a white phat for 2b. White currently worth 1b. You quit
-White rises to max 1 year later
-You log in after 1 year
-White sell offer won't insta complete but is re-activated. The next person who offers on a white for 2b+ will buy yours for 2b and get the change. None of the old white partyhat buy offers will complete your trade.

It might be in your interest to cancel and re make the offer, like the above case you'd be better offer reactivating it for more money, but you wouldn't have to. Depends if you were high/low balling or just gathering bulk skilling supplies I suppose.

Was the item you experienced it with a low volume item to the point where you could probably cancel a GE offer before someone would naturally try and buy it?

P.S. I just checked it for you on this acc

Last logged in 8 days ago. After 5 minutes 2 of my (collection) GE offers had increased in volume, without re-activating them. One of the items is 10gp ea, I'm paying 20 ea, and it didn't auto-fill my limit. It probably would've normally, so this is the effect of it not syncing (and explains why occasionally you can buy an item instant for cheaper than it sells instant :) )

P.P.S

I got my friend with members to instant buy one of the items I have offers in for. They insta bought it for 11 each, and were able to instant sell it (to me) for 20 each - as I suspected.

Hopefully this clarifies your queries

Maybe it's different for sell vs buy offers. I had a large buy offer for an item, and when the offer went inactive, the offer did not instafill when I logged in, even though the offer was now well above the item's street price.

So basically:

Item X = 3m
Place buy offer for 100x item X at 3m. Offer partially fills then goes inactive
Item drops to 500k
Player logs back in but offer does not instafill.

That's the situation I just tried to explain, but probably did it badly

I have an offer in for 1M diseased kebbit fur @ 20 each. After 8 days I logged back in so my GE offers had gone inactive. The fur didn't buy as soon as I logged in, but after about 5 minutes someone sold some with a fresh sell offer and it came to me.
Also, my friend insta bought some fur for 11 each off a random guy, which they then insta sold to me for 20gp. So they were able to profit by insta buy/selling.
