Ariel,
That is an interesting idea - I will make sure my son and I put it forward when we meet the J-Mods on our visit to Jagex.
Rune Fest might be too busy for making suggestions, but you do have an interesting suggestion there.

I think you will find greater acceptance and support from JAGEX and the community if you make an effort to merge your clan into the world's existing history. Try thinking up a Welsh clan name?
sincerely yours,
Ariel ^_^
-----------
The people who made this clan what it was no longer play or are no longer wanted here. Your post is quite interesting, Ariel.
It was among a number of great clans in its day, including Star Wars clans and other themes that may not fit anyones mold of what a Runescape clan should be, but then we were just playing a game, and we were not looking for JaGeX's or anyone elses 'support' but that of our fellow players.
Amg101 created the first Elf clan that the founders of this one joined, Aunir. LotR was not in competition with Runescape as an MMO at that time. It did not exist. Neither did the movies.
When Aunir closed, our little group of 4 friends (funny we couldn't have a 'real' clan today without finding another friend first) made Vanyar.
Vanyar was the brain-child of Laurel0. She did the research, including Tolkien Elvish, she created our original logo, and she even kept me interested in RS far beyond the limits of what the game itself provided to hold my attention. And even with Laurel's energy, selflessness, and shining personality, it was not enough to prevent real life and a broadening industry from dragging me away.
Laurel on the other hand, even though she was the first forum mod from the Clan Community, and practically voted into this position by the community at that time found herslef betrayed by those she trusted. Abused by the same people that put her in that role, and even by me - because she asked me if I though she should accept her invitation to moderate, and all I could think was that it would only be good for the clan. Which was an innocent thought I had not knowing all that I know today.

Laurel is no longer welcome in this game and on these forums because she loved them both. Oh the irony of that, lol.
Kristy (Elvenbroking) was my friend in the game, and was a big help in achieving 99 smithing. Kristy is a brilliant person. Has his/her own imagination, and when and if he/she wants to change Vanyar he/she most certainly is more than capable of doing so, never fear.
We did not leave Vanyar in what we thought were feeble hands. We would have simply closed it and been done with it.
If JaGeX has no problem creating other MMOs to compete with Runescape, then they should not be withholding 'support' based on a Tolkien Elf theme, wouldn't you say?
Are you visiting the Bleach, Naruto, and other clan threads suggesting their themed-based clans do not fit with Runescape history too?
In the end, I would say the difference between 'support' and simply being completely 'overbearing' is light years apart.
If JaGeX wishes for Kristy to end Vanyar, I'm sure they will have no problem being careless enough to tell him/her when they visit Runefest.
I wish you and your son a fun & pleasant trip Kristy. ^^

Oh, Ariel, I forgot to ask. Is Wales located somewhere in RS? Does a Welsh name fit with RS history? Are you trying to say Andew Gower is not Brittish, but Welsh? Is role-play limited by more than anyones imagination, or is it subject to the likes and dislikes of a pimple faced fresh-out-of-university JaGeX employee?
I know Kristy is Aussie, but I do not pretend to know his/her geneology. Are you Welsh Kristy?
Ariel is of Hebrew origin and means Lion of God. Does your character fit with RS game history - or does it simply fit YOU?
I am curious to know the origin of THAT Welsh name suggestion, lol, and I will check back some day to see if I got an answer.

ElvenBroKing,
Thank you for the thoughtful reply. :)
While you are at Runefest, I have a burning question that, should you remember it, I should greatly like to know.
Why cannot we, as players, choose another race besides human?
In this, and another clan, there are many players who greatly wish to role-play elves, or another race. I have met several players who would make ~great~ dwarven characters (they have the temperament and mind set!). And they as much told me that they would prefer to play a dwarf.
I think having other races to choose from could greatly enrich the world's variety and involve players deeper into the world of RuneScape and its history.
What say you? :)
------
It is a good question.
And if the game does not already have them, personal mounts would be a great advancement for the game, even if they happened to be somewhat 'futuristic' to truely fit with RS game history.
Now, I better leave before someone desides to 'action' me. :p
