Nah man, Varrock Guards were way too hard to kill.
My quest for brotherhood eventually led me to a quaint little new clan created by Hellrising 92 (at least I think that was his exact name...) called the Chaotic Guardians (CG). It was a great start for my RS clan adventure, and I wouldn't have it any other way. I walked in and I turn* up, and eventually became the de facto fourth in command of the clan (the de jure 2nd-3rd in command).
It was soon after this that CG held a surprisingly awesome event dubbed the Bronze Brawl. All of its allies were invited, namely Bound 2 Fate (B2F), which is where I met you! <3 You and I hit it off and before I knew it, we were coming up with schemes to make a new clan together. However, that went south within the hour when Hellrising found out, and I then joined B2F, where we changed plans to then take over the clan. Once this plan was all but complete, you left the clan through a failed merger (shame on you) so you could get into the warring business, but instead, I remained in the small leagues.
I took initiative and picked up the pieces of B2F and created my own clan The Hierarchy (TH). After a few weeks, I rekindled with the old clan leader, Duat Anpu, along with the leader of one of the other B2F split-off clans in order to remake it.
This began a several-year-long chain of me finding a
relatively new
clan, staying in it for a month to a year, helping out and getting a high rank, getting bored, leaving the clan and repeating. This eventually ceased when I found the Kingdom of Varrock.
Well, I happened to be between clans again, and I was having trouble finding a new home for once, so I resorted to consulting contacts on my friends list. When I asked you what clan you were in and you started telling me about it, I figured "Hey, why not?!" and posted an ap*, only to fall in love with it.
My early days were filled with me yearning for a position; when I had heard that you got lord in like a month, I set out my damnest to compete with that. However, it turned out I would only get subclan leader (the rank right below) in a few weeks, but boy was I happy anyway.
Aeraie, the queen at the time, had invited me to an fc with her and Kv, the king, and they offered me the Rangers Commander position, which I quickly and humbly accepted. The Rangers subclan had had terrible activity in the previous months, seeing as Aeraie was acting commander and had other duties to attend to. I set out to make the Rangers a contender among the other subclans, namely the Dragon Knights, and, not to toot my own horn, I did a pretty good job at it (might have taken a month or two, though).
I was Rangers Commander for just over 3 months, and I enjoyed every minute of it, aside from arguing with the
insolent
DK leader, Ward[/s].
Rangers Commander was the only SCL job I desired yeah. The other two jobs I wanted were General and Prince, so I was happy to get the one that was the potential stepping stone to my other goals.
My early days were pretty much changing a lot of the structure of the subclan, mostly bringing back old aspects that used to work. Being the first RC in a while, a few of the oldies that were diehard Rangers would message me with advice on these matters. After I got the structure set, I started recruiting new people to the division, even playing dirty and specifically messaging DK members whom I felt were better friends with me than Ward, haha.
Speaking of Ward, he played a large role in my Kovian affairs during my time as Rangers 1ic. He would constantly attempt to thwart changes I attempted to make that would barely affect his subclan. Quite a few of my days consisted of he and I going back and forth only to end up consulting a royal, only to come to some lame compromise in the end. Ward was a great DK leader, but I swear I'd have preferred the Dk's to die out than have to argue with him another day.
The main thing I remember doing in the Rangers was "feigning activity" even when there wasn't any, which turned out to be very wise advice from Bard the Kid. Even while events and new members were scarce, I would post as if the subdivision was thriving. This is what I believe was the key for me turning the Rangers around from the worst subclan to be consistently one of the (arguable) top 2.
I did eventually get a promotion, but I wasn't sad to leave the Rangers. If anything I was happy, since I had left a pretty good impression on my favorite subclan. However, I was disappointed that my successor, Swell Season, went inactive as soon as he was given the job
which he actually seems to do every time he holds a position even nowadays
.
Swell held on for awhile, but yeah point taken
. So you believe that the mindset of success is more important than actual results at first? Where did you go to after your time as Ranger commander?
I don't think it's the most important thing for everyone, but that's just how I work. I know of people who get work done without caring about their reputation or level of success. I, on the other hand, need to be motivated in order to get any results.
I was offered the General position just as EOC reared itself onto live servers. I believe I was given this position because I was already positively involved in the army and I was essentially the best person at EOC in the clan in the opening weeks (don't care who contests that, no one could beat me in a 1v1).
I did a fairly average job at general in my opinion, nothing too great. Most of what I did was get wars and maintain the 1v1 battle ladder (and failed to implement a successful 2v2 division) devised by Criticize Me. The battle ladder was perhaps one of the most highly anticipated events at the time, though, so it seemed as though I shined through that, I suppose. One notable accomplishment is that I was the first Kovian General to gain land through a war in a few(?) years, though it was on W31 which was doomed to end from the start.
In the end, my time as a citizen, Rangers Commander, and General culminated into me receiving my original ultimate goal: prince.
Prince started off a bit shaky. You were king at the time and we had a pretty rocky personal relationship then. This had a pretty heavy effect on my first few weeks, especially since there was in essence only one other active royal since Punchula called it quits for his activity after he left the Guards for royalty.
It was a dream to finally be a royal, though. I got to attend the legendary royal meetings. I was no longer obligated to host events pertaining to a certain faction. I had a say in the clan affairs and was now respected, if I wasn't before. Getting prince was perhaps the happiest promotion I had received in any clan to date, because it was months in the making and took place in my favorite clan.
However, after the first week or so, you left because of the personal beef between us. This left me and Dianne to lead the clan, since Punchula soon after resigned. This was the opposite of what I had wanted, which was to be prince (a fun, cake-walk job IMO) in a really good Kovian royal regime. However, upon your departure, it felt as if I was in a position between crown prince and king. (I'd like to note that I most likely didn't have as much influence/power as I claimed there, but a boy can dream, can't she? =])
Dianne did a beautiful job handling your departure, including your middle finger to me of promoting Bard to king in my stead. She eventually denounced Bard as king and kept him on as prince, which initiated the "prince race," as I like to call it. Everyone in the clan knew the next king would be either me or him, and so the competition began. The situation made me scorn both Bard and you, though it turned out to be much better than I had expected, as he turned into the most level-headed prince during my reign.
Once the prince race began, it would be just about a month before I would be named the next King of Varrock.
