One word... Mac.

Mac and I were princes together and we did a lot together, in fact I jokingly refer to myself as his adopted brother in terms of the EOF bloodline.

Ash began to go inactive, which too me wasn't an issue because me and Mac had everything handled. However Mac felt EOF needed an active king, and I guess looking back now he was right. So Ash, Mac, and myself were sitting in his friend chat one evening when Mac straight up told Ash he felt Ash was going inactive and needed to either step up his game or pass along the throne. I was actually quite disapproving of this for obvious reasons, but Ash handled it well and gave Mac the job of king.

In yet another strange twist of fate, shortly after becoming king (maybe a couple months) Mac decided he didn't want the job and wanted to focus on school. So he left a note on the forums saying something along the lines of "I quit". Nothing about why he quit, or if had just given up on fishing, or who was to come after him. Just those two words and it confused everybody.

I managed to get hold of him on Skype a couple days later and verified that he did indeed quit the clan. "Seems pretty cut and dry Ryan" was his response... smart ass.

Anyhow I was made the next king which for roleplay purposes I changed to Emperor and that's that.

As for the dealing with it's own "dark age", it's quite simple. Once Ash was being advised by Mac (who didn't stop even after becoming a royal himself) and I had become a royal, we just did what we needed to do. Mac talked to Ash who gave us the authority to do just about anything we wanted.
I can specifically remember the first meeting I ever hosted in EOF I told everyone that the crap they pulled with the other royals wasn't going to fly. Nobody gave me a single issue.

By the time I was leader of EOF it had not only filled but overshadowed the hole left by K0V. That still didn't make the job any easier though lol.

Early on it was somewhat stressful, especially with the deteriorating conditions with K0V. There were many times where I found myself one on one with one of my EOFians recounting how K0V screwed in an attempt to get them to let go of being flamed or trolled or whatever the issue happened to be at the time. Thinking back now I should have just ripped Yarrielle a new one, cut the alliance and declared war right then and there. It probably would have saved everyone a lot of grief further down the road and I wouldn't be known for having instigated the failed coalition war (which wasn't a completely failure in my opinion).

In fact most of EOF's issues, outside of the typical ups and downs in activity, were external and rooted in the community rather than in it's member base. I guess you could say that helped steer us towards being diplomatic more than anything else in the community. That and my own personal preference of being diplomatic rather than using the sword to solve everything. Of course this only caused us further diplomatic issues because we tried to play nice with everybody, and everybody didn't want to play nice with everybody else. But we made it work for quite a while.

Outside of that I think our most interesting time was when a member of EOF quit and started spamming our forums every night for two or three weeks. Even then though that could be considered an external issue. EOF managed to handle it beautifully though and made me very proud.

Continuing on, one of the more controversial moves you've made on W83 as a whole is your gifting of land to the Zirak Kingdom. Do you feel like this was the death knell in KOV's alliance with EOF, and why did you give it to them when even some of your own clan members were against it?

Well first things first, my clan members were not against it so to speak. They were just upset that I made the decision without them and I can't say that I blame them.

As for actually giving Zirak the land, I have no regrets what so ever. Like I said last night, K0V did all the work all I had to do was stop trying to save it. Interestingly enough when I gave Zirak the land it was run by some of my friends, a couple of whom were in K0V and one in particular was queen. Krisimay whom I met when she was a just a diplomat from K0V to EOF, was the only one who I could not scare away (I had a habit of doing that at the time). Over time she worked her way up to queen and it was during that era that the alliance actually got better.
If something happening and a K0Vian was behind it then it was dealt with, a lot of times before I even had a chance to report it.

However like many other royals in K0V she was driven out. I don't know the exact details of what happened but I still think it was undeserved. Nobody deserves to be treated like that.
Once Krisi left and joined ZK conditions between K0V and EOF deteriorated again.

It was shortly after this that one of my old friends from K0V who joined ZK came up saying ZK wanted some lands from me. Well they were my friends and I had more than enough land so I figured why not. They had received lands from KOR at the time who decided to pack it's bags and leave, so I just added onto it and gave them almost that entire area. I gave them some other lands as well but when I started catching heat from within EOF I talked to Krisi who understood and we got some of it back.

I say I gave it to them but it was actually a long term lease. The agreement was they could settle the land in exchange for an alliance with EOF. Best deal ever if I do say so myself.

Later on we cut the alliance with ZK along with the vast majority of our other allies (excluding a few like K0V). For whatever reason I decided to take EOF a little closer to isolation. I can't remember for the life of me why, but we eventually came back and reallied with ZK. From that point on they became one of our closest allies and I eventually let go of the lease and gave them the land. I don't recall if that was before or after I cut the alliance with them but regardless the alliance was strong by now and I couldn't possibly imagine anything going wrong.
Now I'm sure K0V probably had some hard feelings about that but I was about over them by that point. I think I proved that by cutting the alliance the number of times I did.

My foreign affairs minister wanted to rebuild relations, simple as that. I also think my old advisor from K0V tried to talk me into it as well. Together they succeeded in convincing me and for a while things worked out.
However things were a little rocky and I'm sure I didn't help much. By now I had grown to resent K0V again because of all the ill-treatment we had received in the past, ever since I joined EOF or before (remember how I said I wasn't the first to suggest cutting the alliance?).

At any rate, I'm sure I contributed more to re-severing the alliance that time than I should have. Most likely I found an excuse in some stuff that I would have normally overlooked if it was ZK, but whatever. I may have handled it poorly but they had earned my distrust by then.
