Friend Verus ,

I am writing to you to congratulate you on your recent victory. Your courage to stand on the front line among your men have spread respect to your name into the deepest of the Isafdarian forests.
The life of the dead is placed in the memory of the living. I trust you that the bodies of the dead are respected so their spirits may continue to live amid us.

With dark skies in the horizon and evil spreading across the lands, I hope that our swords and spell will fight against a common enemy the next time we meet on the battlefield.

In the meantime, the taste of defeat has a richness of experience all its own.

A cool, midnight breeze drifted through the moonlit Varrockian mansion. It had been a somewhat muggy Summer so far in Misthalin, too muggy for some yet tonight had granted some reprieve from the stifling heat.
Hours passed until the dim glow of the rising sun began, yet Kiru remained on the balcony, wrapped in an exquisite, but moth-eaten shrug.

"So they sailed from there..."
Kiru muttered to himself, tracing a line across various locations on the map of Gielinor. He had spent the majority of the night reading maps and old manuscripts from deep within his ill-kept library.

The Mansion itself had been in the possession of the Qui family for several generations, a gift from a bygone Prince of Varrock to what had once been their Foreign Minister, Kiru had often heard stories of how he was named after a line of mighty Kings and nobles, who established themselves as a great force, only the be struck down. Yet for all the rich stories, there was so very little to show. A once exquisite house was now riddled with dry rot and decay, far too costly for a family that had seemingly squandered their wealth, except for a few trinkets.

Kiru murmured, examining a brilliant Dragonstone amulet, gilt with a fine, rose-gold and encrusted with hundreds of tiny diamonds. He recalled the tale of how it was a wedding gift from a Zarosian lord to his regal spouse on their wedding day, yet those days were long gone.
More hours passed until the mid-morning Sun had begun to beat down upon the house, casting a powerful haze over the city and stirring the rest of the household. Kiru arose from his seat, somehow prepared to turn his fortunes around.

Having returned to the capital, the Grand Elder stands on a balcony with King Kid Arthur, overlooking his people:

Spend 30 ore to build walls around East Ardougne.


Brother Rowanius,

I trust the day finds you well. I find myself inspecting the Ardougne chapter house, as well as the fortifications of the city itself. The king has granted us serviceable lodgings, plenty of space for beds, a treasury, an armoury and storeroom. However, the city itself is clearly struggling from the reign of the king's mad predecessor. The walls of west Ardougne were hastily built and are showing their age, and they were meant to pen the citizens within like cattle and deter others from entering, but at least they are defenses. East Ardougne lacks suitable defenses, and the majority of its buildings are wood and clay, insulated by straw, a poor choice having being so close to that fiend, Khazard.

As the threat of Khazard lingers, I'm taking it upon myself to see to the defense of the city by ensuring the building of walls in East Ardougne. Ardougne is the gateway to the elven lands, and it must be defended. To aid in this, I am offering the king the stone and ore from our other holdings, and I am certain he will accept our offer. With any luck, this will strengthen our ties to the city, and help the king show that he cares for the well-being of his people. He needs to, for Lathas' corruption and greed has weakened this city.

Regardless, I am pleased so far with what you have been able to accomplish in such a short time frame, keep up the good work. Saradomin protect you, Brother Rowanius of the Aegis of Saradomin.

watchtower be installed near East Ardougne's city port
in case an attack from sea occurs. ((15 Wood, 5 Runes, 15k))
