And another:

Bringing Friends on Floors:

We allow people who are not currently members of dg4fun to do floors with us under either of the following conditions:

1) The friend wants to try us out.
2) You are bringing a friend to fill a struggling floor.

In both cases everyone on the team must agree to it and you take responsibility for your friend's actions. That means you need to explain the rules to them before they go on the floor. We do no want people "sneaking" into dg4fun without being an official member. That is unfair to our current members. If your friend wants to dung with us often then they need to apply.

Smilies are not allowed to take friends on floors until they become ranked.

Rowun those attack style rules were more for the people who were only using one attack style. Everyone should have at least 2 attack styles. Tribrid would be amazing if you can do it.

People had only one attack style? How? Even back when I played, it seems like everyone had either CSB or hex, and now with hexes being more common and no need for a box bind anymore... was it even possible to have only one style? How do you have 4-5 binds for only one style? o_O

When I read that post, my impression was that it was intended to prevent people from using magic as a primary style, since it seems to be the least useful of the three styles for dungeoneering.
Carve our dreams in sanguine stone/Strength corporeal and of mind
Walls of our flesh, bricks of our bone/Deadly intent to defend our kind

Yep Sereg, for some reason (which is unknown to me) a -lot- of people have resorted to using just one style. Most of them melee, but still quite a few range and occasionally mage.

As for magic, it's really not that bad when you get used to using it. It's better than range/melee on quite a number of monsters, and with the great many primary meleers around, you'll end up using it more than the other styles if you pay attention to prioritising monsters that others will do badly on.

You can use only melee and do alright on all monsters. As it's much easier to only have one bar and one style and not have to worry about switching, it's an easy thing to fall into. Just like momentum would have been an easy thing to fall into. Switching efficiently and without a lot of hassle takes some practice, but it's worth getting used to.

I can't speak about range because I only have a gc bow, but pure mage is pretty awful. However, it is good on things weak to mage. The only problem is that when I'm with other people they tend to melee the things weak to mage before the things weak to melee. But if everyone had two styles they would pick up on what is weak to what and be better able to prioritize the killing. And yeah, a ton of monsters in dungeoneering are weak to mage now.

Rangers, kill those books please. I hate meleeing/maging them :P .

Just posting that I wont be dunging for an extremely long time. So you can remove me from the list in dg4fun. Thanks everyone who dunged with me to 120. Didn't take long and met some good people.

Figure its best to leave my 1/200 slots open for a new person to join the fc than take up a spot that will not be used in the near future anytime soon.

To weigh in on the using two combat styles though, hex + sag body and legs + bn + T10 snipe ring you can range anything. Currently it seems a bit over powered. But everything dies extremely fast. Faster than if a person in full sag switched his sword + ring. Just a thought, think everyone should try it out. Since its extremely effective.

I don't have a hex, but I've heard that pure ranging is like pure meleeing...it works well enough but no as good as proper switching. Also, I heard that sagi short was better than a hex right now.

Yes, it will take a while to learn how to switch properly. Yes, it's more efficient to use one style while you're learning.

I personally prefer using a bow and full range armor with a Blood Necklace and t10 Sniper ring and risk a few misses rather than having to:
1. Lose life points and armor from having items sitting in inventory.
2. Have to switch items -> Hotbar -> Ring, just for one or 2 monsters in room, just to change back for the next one.

Just my opinion. Pure range is very effective surprisingly.
