CHANGES TO THE KEYER RANK
We feel that over time the keyer rank has become more and more 'crowded'. A lot of people still hold this rank out of legacy, some have gotten it while the expectations were different, and with the Evolution of Combat update a lot has changed for us too. We feel like the keyer rank has deviated from the original intentions: 1) to recognise exceptional keyers and 2) to be part of the evaluation process of new members.
On both points the keyer rank has lost value. The amount of people holding the rank is simply too large to mark all as being among 'the best' of keyers, and trial floors are too often simply passed without much attention or feedback. We want the role to become much more like a teacher's, where ranked keyers share their knowledge both to new members and our veterans alike, to increase the overall quality of our floors.
Finally we also realize that the generals are not necessarily the best keyers themselves, and thus not always in a valid position to evaluate applicants for the keyer rank.
With all this in mind, we have decided to implement the following changes:
- Everyone currently holding this rank is stripped of it.
- We have decided on three players to first hold this rank in its new capacity.
- There is no more application for the keyer rank.
- To become a ranked keyer, one will need a majority of approvals from currently ranked keyers. PM a general to approve a person.
- The generals collectively will be allowed to veto potential new keyers, but they are not allowed to appoint any. An exception will be made for the initial three and if the total number of active keyers falls below three. The generals reserve the right to restructure the keyer rank at any time.
- The keyers are strongly advised to be selective in expanding the rank by keeping in mind that quality should prevail over quantity, and by basing their decisions on multiple floors.
- There are new expectations, outlined below.
