@Trips - FYI you have Scope as both a Smiley and a Recruit (V) on your most recent rank list.

P.S. - I've always thought that more should be expected of ranks the higher their rank, both to get there and to stay there. It seems like little consideration was given to that in the past during voting. A rank could climb up to and stay at silver with a consistent but fairly low activity level.

Long story short - has to deal with not voting in the rank session, but is a part of a bigger issue.


The back and forth between Trips and Cyder over the last page or so stems from the lack of rank activity, including admins, and is an attempt to change that behavior.

Why can't Lyra have vet admin rank?

Surely, her experience as founder and longtime leader would make her a valuable advisor, even if she isn't very active anymore.

Also, why was I Flip demoted? He ran the lines more than anyone else.

Again, all three of those were probably tied to the lack of voting. Lyra also seemed fine with it. From the Discord channel:

Lyra: "Also not gonna vote when I don’t know enough of peoples activity to do so intelligently"

would suggest reading a few of Trips comments from the last few pages and that might clear up any other confusion

I know Trips was trying to make a point but since when is voting on ranks mandatory? Attending rank sessions (and thus voting) was never mandatory and some attending didn't vote. When I was a rank I never voted during rank sessions for personal reasons. Nobody seemed to notice let alone care. I think Lyra's point could be taken as meaning that she didn't have the necessary information to vote, yet it's being held against her.

Trip's intent is to encourage and increase rank activity. But it's reasonable to expect that demoting those who truly deserved to be ranked up and those who didn't have enough familiarity with rank activity for the period to vote intelligently will instead have the opposite effect.

The intent was to make people more aware of the flaws in the system and talk about what can he changed in the future. Most who have discussed the action itself or brought new ideas up have gotten their rank back and maybe even ranked up. Those who haven't talked at all were left down a rank because they don't care much about all aspects of the fc.

The point is we've never tried anything different for rankings aside from an optional rank session, and since no one attended the session at the scheduled time I ranked them according to how I felt was okay based on the number of active people during the week span following the rank session.
