Is there a way to stop admins ( and other ranks) from changing the clanvex/cape design and the clan motto?

My clan is almost 10 years old and -nock wood- we manage to avoid problems, however today the clancollors and such were changed to babyblue and pink, with some symbol with 'haha' in it.

I looked everywhere, but could not find a permission setting to stop this, did I miss something and if not.. why is such an obvious feature not there?

Thanks in advance.

No, this can't be changed as of right now. There was a plan to create a Permissions Rewrite that would have covered this, but the project was put on hold, chopped up into pieces, and then the dev behind it (Mod Maz) got shifted around a ton. I believe the Ninja team is working on clan updates at present, but the fate of the Permissions Rewrite is uncertain.

My best advice to you would be to find out who changed your clan colors and punish them in a way that you consider to be appropriate.

Yeh.. that is a problem, it is a big clan, with quite a few admins..
I could demote them all to general and promote in batches.. but that is extremely disruptive and also would not catch a smart person wanting to be an ass..

It is rather disappointing any of these carefully selected admins did this anyway.. or did not secure their account or whatever.

It has always puzzled me the logic behind the permissions when they were 1st created. Once an individual is made an admin or above we cannot control
- kicking clan members
- promoting people (to a lower rank than themselves)
- changing who can talk in cc
- adding or deleting ban lists
- changing any permission for lower ranks that they have permission for
- changing Clan colours, mottos etc

Basically once someone is an admin they can change almost everything that controls the Clan. So what permissions can we control?

- Who can open the Citadel theatre (is this ever used & why would we limit who can start a show????)
- who can initiate a battle (again is starting a battle on a battlefield a vital function within a Clan?)
- who can operate the party room
- who can kick guests (more safe control for guests than members)

So we have control over all the pink fuzzy stuff while the vital workings of the Clan are open to cross fingers & hope you have the right admins. It is what it is and we have lived with it for a long time & thanks to spaghetti coding we will continue to do so :)

It just begs one question - Those that created formal Clans (we existed prior to Jagex creating us) - what did they think we would be and how did they expect us to work? Cause it sure as heck was not what we are.

My advice: be more careful not to promote either a) immature idiots, or b) people likely to lose control of their accounts to clan admin positions.

That is the reason why we choose our admins wisely. It is waiting for the permission rewrite I think to make it impossible for admins to change things u don' want them to change. Ceecs - leader of Ceecs Clan

Of course we choose our admins very carefully, there is a whole process we designed to do so. However, there are no guarantees.. specially when we only know these people from this game, of by other online means.
My clan is almost 10 years old and we have - knock wood- very few issues, so I think we do well, but again.. no guarantees.

A secondary problem is that only admins can walk the avatar, which means we are either forced to make quite a few to have 24/7 coverage or to disappoint our members.
many clans make admins just for this purpose, we don't .

Basically I agree 100% with Tigergal44 who expresses it a lot better then I do.

My rl wife, whom i met on RS a long, long time ago and coincidentally goes by Cee on the game ( looks at the post above me ) always expresses it this way: " I doubt very much that a lot of RS developers actually play, skill, level or are part of the community enough to understand the realities of the game.

Her current favorite example is how the top level smiting stuff , Rune plate at level 99 gives a lot more junk in invention then the highest crafted armor, as in Royal d-hide body, which takes level 93.
On top of this it take 5 bars to make the plate, 3 royal dhides for a body..
The difference is royal dhide gets dropped, wile rune is mined.. so like so often it appears like it is killers who get rewarded more then skillers.

Think about this, next time you do invention and look at the junkchance and xp..

Had this problem before. The best thing to do, is have your admins monitor each other, take screens of whom was on when the change occurred - there are ways to narrow down your suspects. Where there's a will, there's a way. Of course, there are super-trolls and they could rejoin as another name, etc. But most will forfeit the idea - trolls tend to be lazy and give up when their actions no longer elicit a response.

Another idea I have had and suggested to counter such abuse is to create FOUR preset cape motifs, like Max capes have - that only the OWNER can function. We can then reset to one of these defaults in such an event, and it's not time consuming and minimizes the impact of 'vandalism'. Clan:
