When locking threads due to gravebumping, it doesn't depend on the context/content of the thread and posts, and as a standard procedure they are automatically locked on sight.

When the OP has not been attentive to their thread for a long while, on which the discussion died, and it suddenly is bumped after such a long gap (by the OP or another person), it's considered a gravebump, which automatically takes priority as the unwritten forum rule regardless of what the thread and its content have to offer. It's past its sell-by date, and a new thread is needed for a new discussion about the topic.

Mod Neena recently made a clarification about gravebumping.

- Hey, thanks for your patience, we've discussed this as a team and it's really difficult to set an exact time/date for the gravebumping rule. Overall, it will be our decision and to our discretion. As a general guideline on a busy forum if a thread hasn't been posted on in over a week we'll consider it grave-bumping. On a quiet forum, if something hasn't been posted on in over a month we'll consider it grave-bumping, however, it will be to our discretion and if you'd like a grave-bump to be reviewed please post on here. :)

Just pointing out the humor in (arbitrarily) locking a relevant clan issue because it was (subjectively without any clear guidelines) gravebumped, when there is a thread on the front page that LITERALLY says in the title it has nothing to do with clans on the CLAN LEADER FORUM .

It states in the description of the CLF that it is only a place for Clan Leaders to communicate , rather than a place for Clan Leaders to communicate about clan-related issues . Anything may be discussed between the Clan Leaders, whether it's about clans, the game/community, or the weather today.

However, we do prefer it spam-free, hence the majority of posts being clan-related.

I believe sub is correct especially in the sense that these forums are obviously not what they used to be - in my experience gravebumping rules are usually in place to stop new users from using a search function into a forum thread and reviving irrelevant information... I don't think this was the case in this situation (especially when you could think of the entire forums as a graveyard compared to how it used to be).

At the same time we should cut some slack for the Jmods who are more then likely trying to multitask several different things at once and are being scrutinized by us for their every action.

I just assume JAGeX wants grave bumps blockage to:
1 - Keep outdated info from the search for all users.
2 - They've seen and don't wish to bother with 'old posts' clogging up their own search for new ideas and filter what they've already seen out.

Just seems like a new approach to preventing getting backlogs at all, or minimally, and keeping in the moment of now. Although this also ruins some great older ideas from being shared, and also encourages reposts... So, whatever.

*Not to mention annoys people like me, who revise certain threads with new updated info periodically, to keep them relevant. It's redundant to rewrite the entire thing, and submit it again and contribute to clogging up the forums with duplicate and/or similar threads.

Except that this is invalidated by previous threads I have seen locked. IIRC, At one point (I believe around the time of Tuska event) Chaos Lupus was attempting to bring together different clan leaders for a Zamorakian alliance and encourage clanmates to participate in the world event. The thread was subsequently locked and suggested to be moved elsewhere, despite being much more related to CLF than the other post I referred to. I've seen several similar threads get locked with a similar suggestion (which a perusal through the thread history will show).

I'm all for using common sense when it comes to gravebumps, but stamping your feet and screaming "Gravebump!" when the user is trying to bring an issue back to attention (because the matter was obviously not addressed) is childish. If OP is a repeat offender, or the issue has been answered elsewhere, then by all means lock it. But it seems stupid to me to lock asap while stupidity such as unrelated threads or the "count to 50" threads are allowed to take real estate on front page.

Agreed. Gravebumping shouldn't even be an issue on CLF due to the relaxed nature and mostly responsible clientele base. If someone is consistently self-bumping, or just spam bumping threads, then that is an issue, but one person bumping his own thread to remind people of his issue rather than retyping the exact same information and making a duplicate seems perfectly legitimate.

That's true, people use this forum/come here to make threads mostly for issues they have to raise.
