Gravebumps have long been part of our standard forum moderation - we will not be changing that policy. The preferred methodology where re-opening a discussion that long ago died is to start a new thread and link to the old one; this has been mentioned several times in recent history in the CLF ie whenever anyone has gravebumped an old thread :)

- if you believe a change was made that was not as you would have expected then you can raise a bug report in game. A number of changes have been made to the placement of vexes over the last couple of years that I am aware of because of the abuse of the Vex by certain players. It may well be that the specific location you have mentioned was effected by one of those limitations.

Funny thing is.. since I read here that gravebumping is in the rules, but others say its not.. I looked that rules.. I can not find it.. not even close!

Ironically what i did find is that you should not make double threads....

Whatever the case is.. I understand the need to moderate forums and make sure it runs smoothly, however that like running a clan or in my case being a teacher, a good leader/ moderator uses common sense and restraint. Sure doing it that way takes longer and means one has to think..

The thing is rules are there for a reason, have a goal and are about getting results, not about the rules themselves .

As far as the vex is concerned.. I would like it changed, but its minor, the noticeboard is a lot more important and so is a general overhaul of the clansystem.

Yesterday our clancollors got changed.. rather annoying, turns out there is no way to block admins from doing this.
Then there is 07 where clanmates can not access out clan chats.. which splinters the community, it looks like the new Darkscape has the same problem.

Wile I got my writing-cap on.. let me lastly ad this: I wonder if Jagex realizes how important clans are for their bottom-line. I can not tell how many people stay on RS or come back because of these communities, but I am very sure it is a lot.
When my clanmates get bored with the game some keep coming just to talk, wile others return to a place that easily lets them slot back in.
With the new skill over a dozen people in my clan already returned to rs and a welcoming , helpful clan makes them actually try it.. instead of considering all the changes to complicated.

Ps. this was written before the above response, I have to go to work.. so no time to edit it to include a reaction on that, but thanks for the response.

Maybe you should join my class, I teach among other things 'comprehensive reading' .. be it not in English.. but seriously :

The whole line you quotes goes like this:

" So.. with a vital issue seemingly not being dealt with for years, and an admittedly smaller issue being ignored and locked.."

The thread that was locked was the one about the vex, so from that stems that I consider this the ' smaller' issue.
The vital one I talk about , as you can see if you read the whole of what I wrote is the broken clan noticeboard!!!

And maybe you should join my class, where I teach people how to express themselves adequately and efficiently in English?

You start by talking about a vex. Then you talk about a noticeboard issue. Your line about "a vital issue seemingly not being dealt with for years, and an admittedly smaller issue being ignored and locked" therefore implies that the first issue is the vital one, and the second the smaller, since that is the order in which you have discussed them.

Can you justify this stance please, as I believe I raised two very valid arguments against it on the previous page?

These forums have a limited number of publically accessible pages, which is what flaws this practice.

'linking to the old one' is not effective for sharing information, because if you lock every single thread that gets gravebumped, then eventually it will disappear off of page 50 - which will break the link to it in the new thread.

Just pointing out the humor in (arbitrarily) locking a relevant clan issue because it was (subjectively without any clear guidelines) gravebumped, when there is a thread on the front page that LITERALLY says in the title it has nothing to do with clans on the CLAN LEADER FORUM .

Archaeox: I am not going to argue this nonsense with you, clearly we both agree the vex issue is less important, even if I did not express it well enough.. or you didn't actually pay attention wile reading. So lets not argue, but instead discuss the issues, I have not seen you express your opinion about if the broken noticeboard IS a vital issue, as I maintain it is.

If you really do teach language classes, then its nice to meet a colleague here..

Mod Matthe

Clearly in the end your word is law, however might I advise you and your coworkers at Jagex to update the written rules when you change your policy. I do not think it is right to expect of me, or others that we ' pick this up' from reading other locked threads.. Respectfully, that is not how it works. or should work.

So please ad to these rules that ' gravebumps' are not allowed and define these.
Also since you tell us we should make a new thread, please remove (or ad a caveat to) the rule about not making duplicate threads.

At the moment your direction strangely is in contradiction to the actual rules..

This being said, I won't take you away any longer from helping us with our problems in the best way you can.
