2 options.

1. Speak to them, if you're on good terms you should be able to sort it out.
If they give you some rubbish like 'it just came up', it's on them to make sure it doesn't.

2. Perma ban.
This doesn't have to be a nasty scenario.
It's great that they were a clanmate, but your responsibilities don't change.
You are responsible for the success & prosperity of your clan.
If what they are doing is targeted, it will negatively impact your clan.
You can't allow it.
If they don't get this, or care, you have little choice.

Like a few others said, you take the hit now.
You might get a small faction of members leave, but the rest of you grow together, & new blood joins the party.

Option 1 is preferred, but could depend on you having some type of existing relationship with that person.
Otherwise like I said, it doesn't have to be nasty.
It is in the best interests of your clan not to allow others to use your cc for recruiting.
It's that simple.
Everyone you want in your clan will understand this.

I concur with Progs.

We've had members leave and rejoin as guests, which I really do not understand.
To leave your Clan for another says to me that your Clan is not suitable for that member. So why leave then guest?
All I can think of is that they do it as some form of insurance policy, where if their new Clan doesn't work out, they still have ties to come back to yours - nice to feel used.

We literally had a member just the other week who made a big song and dance about leaving for a better Clan, to leave and instantly rejoin our Clan as a guest because the Clan they were moving to wasn't as active - I just do not get it.

With regards to members that leave to start own Clans and rejoin as guests, I believe these types of members are dangerous to allow as guests: they have made previous relationships with your members and will prey on that to score some easy members to their Clan.

Unfortunately we've had experience of this, and those types of players really are just a cancer trying to sabotage the hard work you've put in to building up your Clan.
Personally I would ban them the second they leave just so they can't even attempt.

With that being said, you can be assured they will still try the most pathetic act of PMing your members to join their Clans - it's easier to ride on the success of another Clans system and members rather than to build your own from scratch.

So personally, as soon as you get any inclination of them trying to poach members: ban them. Make them actually work trying to poach, rather than have an open platform for them to attempt their feeble ways.

I respectfully disagree with Progs that ex clanmates shouldn't be allowed to guest. Sometimes clans dont work out for individuals, that is no reason to ban them entirely and prevent someone from maintaining a friendly relationship. It makes the clan administration seem desperate and vindictive.

That being said, if they leave to make their own clan... Then it's a little tougher. Clanmates will leave if they want to, but that's no reason to make the poachers job any easier by letting them in cc.

I agree with Cuddlebucket's suggestions.

I've also had this happen before.
If they leave on good terms and want to start a new clan but guest in our CC I've pmed them to ask that they not visit until they get their clan off the ground. I usually say, that as a Clan Leader I'm sure they can understand and respect where I'm coming from.
I've been fortunate that they were mature enough to not cause issues.
In your case I would definitely try to talk to the person and see if you can come to some kind of understanding. Banning him would be a last resort.

@ Tyki Mikk , sorry I didn't mean that they shouldn't be allowed to guest (my post may have been misleading).

I was only questioning the motives/purpose or point behind returning to guest in a clan you've left, since normally and naturally people who've voluntarily chosen to leave your clan 99% of the time never return to guest - simply because they just move on.

Otherwise, if you like it too much, why did you choose to leave in the first place? It's a bit off and I always keep a close eye on people who do that.

Should be on high alert if they formed their own clan because they'd never really be able to resist to leech off you and try to capitalise on opportunities (such as members being upset/bored, drama etc) to poach some of your members into their own clan.

Some also try to discuss or bring up their past issues with the clan in the chat, which effectively causes a negative atmosphere and impact on your members. I had one who was like that (and was known as a 'drama llama' by everyone) who I ended up banning - he PMed me and started asking why and wanted to be unbanned, I simply told him that he doesn't really have any business anymore in going back to guest and demanded him to look forward and move on with the clan he had formed.

Interesting discussion.

We have had a similar problem. We also allow ex members to guest, this of course has downsides.
Banning ex-clanmates , specially high rank and as such supposedly respected ones does not really help, they can easily use other means of communication and it may even force a choice on to those who are their friends.
On the other hand, letting people just leave and guest kinda makes a clan an easy ' second choice' , back up date for the prom... When other clans demand absolute loyalty and they maybe offer something people want, like a permanent standing bosser army, it is so easy to just go to them and figure you can still get your ' fix' in the community department by guesting.
As such we have recently changed our rules and we ' ask' people that leave to stay away for at least 4 weeks. This cuts down on the drama and forces people to make a more clear choice.

Sidenote, we have, like all clans, had people leave, but a lot of these, maybe as many as 1/3rd have returned after figuring out they made the wrong choice.

Thanks for the input everyone =)

The poacher tried asking the same clanmate to join his clan again, even after being told no. We're going to be having a very honest and to-the-point talk with this guest today...
