HLF is not really a place to make friends tbh, too many trolls and elitist people imo. Only good thing is the expertise in threads and able to post links/screenies

I don't know - I've met several nice and friendly players around the HLF, and in general I think HLF gets a worse reputation than it deserves as far as being "elitist" and full of trolls, etc.

Of course there might be bad apples now and then, but that's going to be the case for any area of any gaming community. The trick is looking past them to find the good apples. :)

You appear to confuse people who post in an effort to be amusing with trolls, who are either deliberately disruptive, nasty, antisocial, spiteful, hate filled or a combination thereof. Respect is a two way street.
Oh yeah, true that. Flamers and haters are a thing too, but they normally don't last for long on the forums, in terms of the individual.

But in terms of people acting like trolls but otherwise being actual people--there was one thread in Rants that was complaining about something, and when his thread got a lot of responses, he was genuinely surprised lol. And then he became more reasonable once he had calmed down and realized that people were treating him with respect.

If
Erehk
posts in the HLF, that probably says something about how not everyone there is a bad apple nor elitist :p

But seriously lol HLF sounds like fun timez. One of my friends claims to be a student of Poe's law and has mentioned that he "shit posts" there, so I was just like "lol that sounds like fun"

ANURUR
?!?!? You have access to the CLF too?? Lol hi, I got access March 23rd, 2016!

This place is so cool! And I love story time, for example
Esporatore
and
Tigergal
have shared some pretty insightful stories that have helped me become more open minded and considerate. Which is something that we value in The Name, and which
Sookie Lala
and I deliberately encourage.

From what I've gathered,
MattHe
is the bad cop and
Maz
is the good cop? Or is she the cute but evil type of squirrel, and MattHe is actually the Severus Snape character?

I'm a CLF newb so I haven't seen anyone get in trouble yet, lol. I don't even know if this very post is controversial, for being so meta, but understanding our HLF curators is important in understanding jmod feedback, and how to or how not to respond to feedback that's disagreed with.

tl;dr: How do we stomach "rejection" when we receive disappointing jmod feedback, but still let on that we're not giving up, and that something is still a really good idea?
I wanna learn more about our CLF parents

Responses of "rejection" aren't really treated any differently here than in any other forum, I don't think. :P

Matthe/Maz/others are really good about being as honest as possible with responses to ideas/suggestions (what's said in CLF stays in CLF), but just as with ideas/suggestions posted anywhere, unfortunately not everything is doable or feasible.

Hm okay. I know that for a while, people were ranting, raving, and reasoning over why the 7 day cooldown should be removed, for about a year now.

But the patch note update seemed unexpected, as in we never could have anticipated it in April as opposed to a year later, unless there were posts that gave us reason to believe so?

That's true, the cooldown/probation period was a busy point of discussion. As for the change being unexpected, though, we actually did have a bit of advanced notice.

The very first mention of a possible change was this thread here in the CLF, and then at the beginning of March during a Developer Q&A live stream was when it was "confirmed" to be on the way.

Oh okay, pretty neat. I still think that we could do with more transparent feedback because in the case of removing the clan cooldown,

- It was easier to say that this could happen because the devs knew that it was already possible.
- I wonder when in the process the jmods told the CLF that they were looking into it, as in when during the feedback process they decided to forward the majority opinion to the devs, and also tell us they had, thus raising our expectations.
- I wonder when during the implementation/development process the devs mentioned the upcoming update in their BTS. Because if you're 80% done, then your success rate is higher and that's something you'd be more willing to set as an expectation, than if your project were only 20% done and you still don't really know whether your development is feasible.

I'm interested in
how we could use those threads and BTS announcements to gauge our predictions, and as such whether we still need to vocalize our support and to convince the jmods of reasons, or whether those ideas have already gained their own momentum on the dev side of things.
