I watched the first series of Game of Thrones and also got totally hooked Oby. I've ordered all the books and look forward to reading them. Harry Potter books have never been my bag nor the films. I couldn't think of anything worse for me than having to read a Harry Potter book and yeah I know I'm probably in the minority here.

I'm a bit of a history geek and would quite happily curl up with anything that gives me a greater understanding of the past. I've recently been reading a lot of stuff about the Roman Empire.

There was a good novel I read which had a base of oriental history. It's called Tai Pan and it's about the struggle of the western traders in China in the 1800s. The factual detail is pretty accurate for a story :)

Oh and imo the Harry Potter films should be burnt - the acting is horrific =S I like the books, though. J K Rowling's simple but effective style of writing is very compelling :)

Isn't that one of those "school approved" books that you are supposed to read in English class? When I think of those kinds of books I think of Of Mice and Men or Lord of the Flies books *shudders* I never seemed to get along with those types of books and passed the tests on being a great test taker. Those kinds of books made me think I hated reading. However thanks for the suggestion all the same ^.^

I think the only reason "school approved" books end up hated is the over-analysis of meaning. Sometimes the author just means what they've written. :-P Wuthering Heights is a great book though (although I found it slightly frustrating as well). Of course genre might have something to do with it too though! :-P

And thanks for the suggestions for me too, urmyleander! :-D

Honestly I wish this was the issue. However I was assigned to read Lord of the Flies twice and both times it put me to sleep. I finally forced myself to read it. But I've on and off tried to read books that were books teachers use in English class and i have never been able to keep myself interested in them. (I think they do it on purpose to torture us)

A mystical place far away from your house, it requires you take a journey of epic proportions and a quest of knowledge to venture outside into world of Real and search for the mysterious place that is known as a 'Library' in the jungle that is known as 'City'. There will be fierce traps such as 'One Way Only' or 'Road Closed', other traps to entice you such as '2 for 1 deals on soft-drink' or 'Free Drink with every purchase!' as well as the native population who consist of many differing subspecies such as 'children', 'babies', 'adults' and 'old people'... it's a dangerous world to explore, so Google if ye dare!

If that sounds too difficult I believe all you do is look for it in the 'Amazon' and you can find them there for sale by others such as yourself. :o

That sounds like effort. I'll just wait for the movie then pirate it.

I love LOTR =o
I used to run around the neighborhood beating my friends on the head with a stick screaming things like "DIE YOU DAMNED ORK!!!" or "ELENDIL!!" or even "THE BEACONS OF MINAS TIRITH! THE BEACONS ARE LIT! Gondor calls for aid..."

Ouch! I had a book like that at school... In fact, two... The 13th Member and Moonfleet both made me want to do ANYTHING else... You're probably right on the intention of torture... :-P
